Simple enough. Is it at all possible for Lusternia to have a better protection for disconnects?

Explain.

The nature of the telnet protocol is such that the timeout is really the only sure way of knowing when a disconnect happens. So setting a very low timeout is the best protection, provided your system will be active enough to keep you from timing out when you're really connected.

The problem is that even a 2 minute timeout won't protect you of you're hunting.

Every now and then I just get cut from the connection, full bars of service, computer running perfectly, just a disconnect, I've died a couple times but it's nothing that I don't get over in a few minutes, although it can be VERY frustrating when it happens.

Yep. Barring an add-on to the telnet protocol being promulgated and then supported both by the server and your client (and several already exist which could handle this), though, it's the only option.

The disconnect deaths do get annoying. While I was hunting earlier, I got cut off the server and couldn't reconnect for several minutes. When I was finally able to get back on, I had to suffer the loss from burnout, liching, vitae, final death, and praying. If it had taken another minute or two, I would have also run out of mana before praying. Overall, I lost about 20% from that one experience.

There could be an AUTOPRAY CONFIG where you would automatically pray when you die and drop below some threshold of mana. If you're present at the keyboard you could 'delayprayer' or something to that effect.
I've seen other muds where you 'become unavailable' as soon as you're disconnected and are protected from harm, unavailable to receive tells, etc. I don't think this is a good solution for Lusternia because it'll be another form of QQ'ing.
When I was mudding on my cell phone data plan I would often die due to lag spikes. Also each time I answered an incoming call my internet connection would be dropped. It does kind of suck. That's one reason why I learned conglutinate and greatly prefer to hunt off prime; the loss is maybe 2-4%.
EDIT: Conglutinate could also work on prime. I've never understood why it doesn't. Anyone know the reason?

They do, in revolts. You don't need baby protection everywhere in the game.

30-second timeout
