I was wondering if anyone could explain the formulas used for warrior bashing.
for example why a max damage claymore(360) only takes 9 swings on a sandojin and a katana(66) takes 12 swings?

I take it nobody knows why damage isnt a huge factor. Whats the point of a damage weapon if despite having like 3 times more damage if it doesnt show when you hunt. But when it comes to combat, it is more accurate. If anyone can tell me whats the deal ill be grateful

Like everything else, weapon stats are just numbers. There's nothing inherent or base-zero in any of them. Strength is a bigger modifier to bashing damage. This has been the case for a long time now.

Even still if its just numbers, then back to the orginal question.
How does a max weapon claymore(360) take only 9 less swings to kill a sandojin for example than a katana(66) that takes 12 swings?
The numbers just arent matching up unless there is special kind of math only for Lusternia that im unaware of

... because you didn't read what Xavius said. Damage is just a small part of the weapon formula for NPC hunting. Strength makes up most of it. There is a base amount of damage and then it's tweaked up / down slightly depending on other variables.

It might be more meaningful to measure the average time it takes to defeat a mob.

I have a formula , but I don't know if it's still accurate. let me find it for you.
damn, looks like I deleted it.
It was someting along the lines of ((180*STR) + Wdamage )/Wspeed

Thank you for the formula, I know this isnt something to worry about and it was only curiousity that i even started this thread, combined with some people asking me some questions like this.
Now dont hate me, but i ran the numbers and that formula still isnt fit
Both take about the same amount of time to kill, with the katana using up more endurance. The endurance isnt noticable on shorter hunting trips but on longer ones it makes a huge difference

Trans Resilience, use Breathe Deep. You'll never have an issue with endurance, even with the katana.

Thank you for the formula,
Just glancing at the formula is enough to know it's wrong, both in variables and curve.
Look. It's common knowledge that strength is the primary bashing damage modifier. If you need the numbers, raise a beast and graph it out.

give me the credits and ill make sure to do that

How else would i trans resilience?

This is why you quote the posts you are responding to.

It's also that way for combat too, as far as I can tell.

You don't even need trans resilience. I had no problems hunting nonstop with just breathe deep and inept resilience. Well, okay, I did, but that was after a looooong time. Then you get someone to help get it back up pretty quick.

Not true, especially when factoring in other things (such as, say, race choice-- faster race with less strength == more swings to kill a mob == more endurance used. Faster swings also mean less time to recover endurance between them, so it can also be rough with max-speed weapons).
I used to go through it pretty regularly as a Shadowlord Faeling hunting (an hour of bashing would get my endurance pretty low). Then I learned more resilience, and no more issues.
