I'm a Dragonlance fan, owning many of the books, but clearly not enough.
Now I'm terrible at researching and wondering if anyone knows specifically about the series surrounding a few characters?
Namely Linsha Majere. I own the Linsha Trilogy but I know nothing of her existence between Dragons of Summer Flame, and Linsha Trilogy.
I'm overly interested in Palin Majere's history as well, after Dragons of Summer Flame I do not find him again in any of my books...now a list of books that you might know concerning these two characters, I'd be highly greatful for!

Palin Majere is referenced in the War of Souls trilogy, I know for sure. Was the only books after Summer Flame that I read.

I'm more of a kender fan. This naturally will come as a shock to nobody whatsoever
Eventru2009-11-03 06:15:45
I was always a fan of the various orders of knights, particularly the Knights of Takhisis. Steel Brightblade was a very curious and intriguing character for me.
As an afterthought, kender were of course always a fun addition to any book, as were gnomes. Particularly the gnome in the... Twins Trilogy, I believe? The one related to the device, who was kicked out of Mount Nevermind because his inventions always succeeded, and he was viewed as a threat to gnomish society. Actually was one of my favourite character ideas I'd come across in the series.

Oh yeah, gnomes too. And gully dwarves

We agreed.. wow. That's definitely my favorite book series. Expected perhaps but Raistlin's interactions were the best things ever, especially w/Takhisis.
Eventru2009-11-03 06:26:16
Buba or whatever her name was the greatest. I actually wanted to cry a little when Caramon caught a glimpse of a possible future during the Twin series, mostly because of her.

One of my favourite by the two was "The Second Generation". Even though most are what if stories, they are all VERY good, and especially interesting. Worth a quick read.
Interestingly enough, it contains an entire story of Palin, and a good one at that, so pick it up. I wonder at it's cannonocity (probably not a word, but it sounded so cool I have to use it), however.
EDIT: Crap. Upon review, I missed a good bit. First of all, it was cannon, and thanks to the ever handy wikipedia, there are many more books with him, and I have read many, actually. Might consult those. Ahh, heck, I'll just list them.
The Second Generation
Dragons of Summer Flame
Dragons of a Fallen Sun: The War of Souls vol. I
Dragons of a Lost Star: The War of Souls vol. II
Dragons of a Vanished Moon: The War of Souls vol. III
Prisoner of Haven
The Wizards Conclave

Second Generation was what I was trying to think of, but couldn't place it properly. It was a good read as well, if only for pleasant background information. Although they are, in the grand scheme of things, pretty mediocre writers, I've always loved Weiss and Hickman - their Deathgate Series, however tangential to this thread, was a great one.

Palin also features in the excellent Jean Rabe trilogy "Dragons of a New Age".
I used to be a complete Dragonlance addict. I believe my current collection stands at131 EDIT: 122+ think I just double counted some. Not got a few of the very recent series'.
I'm sure Palin has been in something else but can't think of it right now. Memory fading in old age.

Heh, I still remember Kalodan doing his gullydwarf routine with a lizard tail or something during an event once...
EDIT: Holy crap there are that many books now? I only got like ...20.

There are a ton of books, and thanks for the lists on Palin, noone has information on Linsha? Linsha trilogy makes references to Knights of Neraka in Sanction, but I've never seen them explained anywhere, along with the great dragon purge. She also has a brother known as the 'Dragonmage' and supposedly there should be adventures on him too...
Unknown2009-11-03 19:31:38
Just whatever you do, don't watch the movie. It's on netflix and will make you cry. Bad sort of cry.
Caffrey2009-11-03 20:14:08
Well, now that I'm home I can tell you Linsha also features in Crossroads Book 1: The Clandestine Circle, also by Mary H. Herbert. Don't know of any more.
Movie? What movie, there never was ANY movie! Nobody has ever heard of any Dragonlance movie!!
EDIT: There is also a short story with Linsha in the recent short stories anthology, "Dragons of Time" called "The Eight" and I remember it now that I see the book! It was good

Hey, kind of like Eragon. Sad when that happens, huh?
Alright, after some work, I have found what is probably a partial list of Linsha stories.
City of the Lost
Flight of the Fallen
Return of the Exile
Clandestine Circle
The Odyssey of Gilthanas
Dragons of Krynn
Interestingly, Ulin, Linsha's brother, was the first Dragon Mage. As in, new type of magic, hehe. He did some pretty epic things. In fact, both of these siblings formed some really interesting bonds with Dragons. And as that tends to be my overarching focus in general, I liked them very much, hehe.

Read the War of Souls trilogy, it pretty much explains them.
For a brief description, after the war against Chaos in Summer Flame, Krynn was left without Gods (War of Souls explains). The Knights of Takhisis were the most powerful order in the land (much like the Solamnic Knights at the end of the... Age of Dreams, I think?), and so immediately seized hold. They renamed themselves the Knights of Neraka (Neraka being their head quarters, the once sacred place of Takhisis).
It's probably one of my favourite series, however sad the ending made me. It was nice to see certain characters make brief come backs, as well as Tasslehoff Burrfoot's final series (I suspect, anyways).

I believe Tass is in the prequel trilogy, the Lost Chronicles, although I haven't read it yet as I am waiting for the third book, Dragons of the Hourglass Mage, to come out in paperback!

Because I work as a 3rd party QA auto part Inspector, and the people at the factory take forever to give me parts.
On the note of the movie, I've seen it, and I didn't like the way it was written. It's ancient though so you can't blame them.
I still haven't heard anyone talk about Linsha Noone else even know who that is? I forgot the name of her brother though, even though I just heard it yesterday...sadly.
Edit: Ok just saw Cafferey's reference.....any more?

I tried reading some old Xanth books the other day. Never got into dragonlance. Can someone remind me why I have a "not for me" impression of the series which I've never read a book of?
