When did this movie come out? Why hadn't I heard of it untill I walked past a movie theatre last night?

Who else has been waiting 10 years for this sequal?

I had been meaning to watch the first Boondock Saints for a very long time, finally getting to watch it about two weeks ago. It was great, of course, and as I was poking around on IMDB, I learned that the sequel was coming out like the very next day!

(I canceled my cable TV, so I don't see any commercials at all. Also, I use AdBlock Plus in my Firefox, so I don't see banner ads on the web, either. Heh.)

I've been waiting, eagerly, and was aware. Unfortunately I've been forced to wait by a promise to a friend to see it.

Also, Dafoe isn't in it. He really was a great part of the first movie IMO.

I work with online video ads and I never saw an ad for it either sad.gif

This must be close to the most low-key release of a highly anticipated sequel ever.

I'm renting boondock saints tonight so I can get my wife to watch it and then hop on over to the theatre if there is still time, else I'll have to wait for tommorow. Apparently it was released Oct 30th?

You must be joking. It's barely above a straight-to-dvd release quality film. This and Jafar's Palace are probably neck and neck for great movies.

It was only released in like 60 theatres. In the U.S.

Are you talking about Boondock saints, or boondock saints 2?

Two of course, one is a classic. This is a "milk the franchise" move.

have you seen it? cause it's the same writer/director and mostly the same actors, and it's not really widley released or advertised.

The first one was also technically a flop and I just read that his director is hated by people.

One, as I understand it, was one of those movies that was just struck by bad luck day after bad luck day, with a stubborn director and a stubborn production company.

Really, lacking characters like Smucker and Rosco, I suspect the movie will lack a lot of it's flare.

I still believe one of the greatest scenes in the movie was the exploding cat. Sick? Maybe.

Hilarious? I think so.

I just finished watching it again.

I think what I liked most about the movie was the fact that crime scenes were explained, and then the action was shown.

Cat scene was great, but then so was the "this only happens in bad movies" line was also great. (and the scene associated with it)

The cat scene was fantastic, solely because of the 'Is it dead?'

Just the memory of it while typing that out made me lol.

After 3 attempts at going to see this movie, I finally saw it, and it was great. 89% of what I expected the sequel to be.

Looks like I'll have to wait another 10 years for the 3rd one

Why do I get the feeling that you're just trying to totally ruin my day by sending me to a movie that is going to entirely ruin my nostalgic memories of cross-dressing Willem Defoe?
Merik2009-11-19 20:50:05
lol my mom walked into the room right in the middle of that scene

Great reaction. content.gif
Desitrus2009-11-19 20:55:06
Merik is on team Jacob.
Merik2009-11-19 21:13:35
I don't even know what that means.

It won't ruin that memory at all. Trust me.

They got a really good Smecker replacement for this movie. (though I guess it really depends exactly on what aspect of Smecker you liked best)
Unknown2009-11-20 02:12:34
Hmm. Closest place that's showing it here is 25 minutes away... I suppose it's worth it.
