You asked for it, and you got it. Smalltown is back! Roles are at the bottom of this post.

=====================================

SETUP:

ALL ROLES ARE PUBLIC. You can choose whatever role you want. Simply post in this thread which role you want, and if you were the first to post for it, you get that role.

THERE WILL BE TWO SCUM. The scum will be randomly assigned based on numbers from random.org, and are not yet determined. In other words, any role could be scum. You will find out if you are scum from a PM at the start of the game.

Scum number one is Kefka. Each night, in lieu of his normal abilities, Kefka may douse a player in fuel, which...does nothing. Kefka may also start a fire, which kills all doused players at once. Kefka cannot do both in the same night.

Scum number two is Ultros. He's just hungry. He can eat someone each night.

THERE ARE FOURTEEN ROLES. Wait, 14? But I thought 17 signed up! Correct. Hurry to it. Told you two days ago when we'd be starting and reminded you just a few hours ago. Impromptu lurker weeding. Game starts when roles are filled.

IF YOU DO NOT RECEIVE A ROLE PM, you are town. You should know your role. You picked it.

=====================================

THE XAVIAN CONSTITUTION OF MAFIA:

(a.k.a. "the rules")

I. All games exist for the amusement of those involved.

A. All rules are subject to the primary rule of fun. Mafia is not sereus biznez. I will not treat it as such, and I hope that you don't complain if I ignore rules lawyering.

B. Aggressive is good, but forum rules still apply here.

C. Attempts to play in the spirit of the game make the game more interesting for your fellow players, spectators, and the mod. Fifteen seconds could add 15% or more to your karma score.

II. Competitive games should be played competitively.

A. Acts of sabotage or rage will result in Bad Things, at my sole discretion.

B. Excessive lurking will result in Bad Things, at my sole discretion. If you have to do something in the real world, informing your fellow players with a post is highly encouraged mandatory to evade modly destruction.

C. Make a genuine attempt to win. See I-C.

III. Competitive games should not be played unfairly.

A. Obey all directions from the mod. If you have a problem with them, whine, but do it anyways. See I-C.

B. Do not seek an unfair advantage by trying to get information you do not have the right to have. This means no communication off of the forums unless your role allows it (and guess what, it doesn't.)

C. Spectators and dead people: please refrain from discussions that may result in you even alluding to information that you have regarding the game.

D. Post edits are limited to typo and formatting corrections only. All edits must include a system-generated timestamp and a note as to what you changed. If you don't know how to do either of these, ask or double post.

E. Not all situations can be foreseen. In the interest of leaving people free to act, the rules are not extremely detailed. Follow the spirit, not the letter. If you know it's wrong, don't do it. Actions detrimental to the game's stability or playability will likely result in a very pissy Xavius throwing modkill darts.

THE ROLES:

Terra
"Thank you... You all helped me understand what it means...to love. I'll fight! I'll make this world a place where life can flourish, and children can grow up in peace!"

Ah, Terra. The eternal bleeding heart. Between handy white magic and the brutal pink troll morph, you make a fair guardian. Your nightly target is immune to nightkills.

Locke
"Call me treasure hunter, or I'll rip your lungs out!"

What's a Final Fantasy game without its thief treasure hunter? You may target someone at night and gain one use of your target's skill. You may not steal two nights in a row, and you may not steal while you still have a use of someone's power.

Celes
"I can simply absorb the attack with my Runic Blade."
"Are you sure you'll be okay?!"
"Just you watch!"

Your abilities absorb attacks from both friend and foe. Your nightly target cannot use any night abilities or be targetted by another player.

Once in the game, you may use your Runic ability during the day. This effectively roleblocks all players on both sides until nightfall.

Edgar
"There're more girls here than grains of sand out there. I can't keep track of 'em all!"

You're a shameless "lady's man" and a skilled machinist. Unfortunately, only your flash is on hand. You can use it to roleblock your nightly target. However, if you flirt shamelessly enough, the mod might just let you slip out to grab another tool.

Sabin
"You think a minor thing like the end of the world was gonna do me in?"

Your lust for life, iron will, and good heart makes you a natural leader. Your vote counts for double.

Cyan
"I am Cyan, the retainer to the king of Doma. I am your worst nightmare."

Did anyone actually use you in the game? No. You're horrible. You make battles slow. If only other people could battle while we sat there watching that bar slowly creep up. If only. ...ok, fine.

Once during the day, you may PM the mod with your intention to start charging your technique. Then, in the thread itself, announce that you are using your Swordtech and your target, if applicable. The power used will depend on how many pages have been started in the thread since you PMed the mod. You may not select a lesser ability. If you wait for nine or more pages, the attempt will fail. You may vote before you start charging, and you may continue posting, but changing your vote while charging will cause the day's attempt to fail. You may not announce that you are charging your ability in the thread, or again, the attempt will fail. Did I mention that I hated your character's ability? If you ever forget it, your attempt will fail.

Your abilities are:
1: Dispatch 25% daykill
2: Retort If you are lynched or daykilled with this ability up, a random person voting/killing you will be killed. Scum are more likely to be hit, if applicable.
3: Slash Target dies if he/she has half the required votes
4: QuadraSlam 25% chance to kill each of four non-voting parties.
5: Empowerer Target requires two fewer votes for lynch, and you require two more votes for lynch
6: Stunner Roleblock target for remainder of the day, the next night, and the next day
7: QuadraSlice 12.5% chance to kill each of four non-voting parties. Non-voting scum (or town, if scum-aligned) will always be included in this, and their kill rate is increased to 50%.
8: Cleave Proper daykill

Shadow
"Leave us. The dog eats strangers."

You're a mercenary ninja. You kill people. Did you expect something different?

You may kill a nightly target.

Gau
"Thou thou! Thou thou! Thou thou! Thou thou! Mr. Thou! You angry... me?"

Leaping behind people isn't so different from leaping behind monsters, is it? You can track your nightly target and learn who he or she targetted.

Gogo
"This should be fun. When do we leave?

Your years of mimicry have made you a very skilled watcher. Your ability is the opposite of Gau's. You can watch your nightly target and learn targetted him or her.

Setzer
"My life is a chip in your pile. Ante up!"

More than anyone else around, you are comfortable with uncertainty and risk. Your abilities are powerful, but unreliable. In this setting, you can determine a person's alignment. Sorta. You have a 50% chance of correctly determining alignment, 25% chance to guess town, and 25% chance to guess scum.

Strago
"No! A 'kid' like me doesn't know the meaning of defeat!"

You were pretty obnoxious to use in the game too, but if nothing else, you were a reliable source of water damage. You can keep that.

Once in the game, you may cast Aqua Rake during the day. This cures Kefka's douse on all affected characters.

Relm
"What a fuddy duddy."

Your sketch ability was actually a form of mimicry, but, well...I already gave that to Locke. Deal with it. Instead, you can create lifelike replicas that can confuse nearly anybody. You may redirect any player's night action and attempt to send it to another target of your choosing instead. The redirect is always successful, but you only have a 75% chance of the target hitting your intended new target. If that fails, it will hit another random target.

Mog
"Kupo...po!"

Your control over natural environments gives you protection from the vagarities of life. Whenever faced with a random situation, you will always get the most beneficial outcome.

Umaro
"Admirer of bone-carvings, as strong as a gigas, a sasquatch pal with muscle!"

You aren't good for much except smashing. You can Smash a target during the day, killing them, but only on even-numbered days.

Shiri2009-12-09 16:10:53
I'm gonna Vote: Diamondais because of the three abilities it would be most awkward for scum to have, hers, Rika's and TIMDN (hereafter referred to as Siam) are the mostly obviously bad, keeping in mind Kefka can't use his powers alongside their nightpowers and Ultros probably can't by extension.

Given that we only have an arsonist and SK here, I think the odds are actually in our favour...I'll probably steal either Shadow's, Gogo's or Gau's skills depending on what day 1 looks like. I also may annoy the censor.gif out of Kefka by copying Strago at some point during the game but I'll hold off on deciding when so he can struggle with knowing when would be a good time to get me out of the way.
Kiradawea2009-12-09 16:36:45
Wait, Dia is a bad role for scum to have? You can't really protect yourself, and if one scum should jailkeep the other, all it does is give us no scum-induced murders that night. Casilu would be worse, since she could block our vig instead. Which is worse, regardless of wether scum can use both the character power and the kill power they're given.

I'll agree that Rika and Siam are dangerous potential scum, but you and Romertien are dangerous too. Stealing would be perfect for Ultros, and people are naturally inclined to listen to what the Investigator has to say.

Anyway, of all those roles, and with nothing else to go on, Siam is the most dangerous so thus.

Vote: Siam
