This may be just me, though I'm pretty sure it is not. However, Lusternia has gotten immensely droll and boring lately in many aspects. There's hardly anything to look forward to except the one revolt a week, and that's just about it. Other than that, it's the everyday domoth, kick and run raiders, the occassional aetherbash, and that's really about it. Conflict, for the most part, is on decline after this supermob buff and its pretty much impossible to get a fight outside of getting ganked by an entire organization OR the AM raids that tend to only occur now on shrines or what have you. In any event, it really seems that there are very few outlets to pursue in Lusternia right now. Even the events have become fairly droll. Perhaps it is because of Finals time, but it seems like its not. I'm fairly sure I'm not the only one who is seeing/feeling this right now. Hmm.

That's not what "droll" means.

I'm pretty sure it means "dry", but I just got out of finals so leave me be.

I'm not bored at all, but then again I don't play 10 hours a day either.
Shaddus2009-12-15 21:18:10
Ironbeard and the Seals are just around the corner. I can assure you that people will show up for that.
Aside from those two things, I agree with you for most of that. The admin do a wonderful job of holding events, but they have so many other things going on that sometimes the small things get lost.

I haven't noticed it being much more boring than it has been for the past year.
As an aside, droll is pretty much a synonym for whimsical, although droll humor means humor that is dry... people and their words...

Well, my lacking vocabulary aside, it does seem like the Seal events might be something to look forward to. It just seems that when those pass, there's really nothing else to focus on. Perhaps my real gripe is that conflict, for the most part, is dead. But it seems like there is more to it than that. I don't really look forward to playing Lusternia anymore for the most part.

Yes.
Urazial2009-12-15 21:43:16
I think from the forums and the changes made by the admins, most people are happy with a very minimum of conflict. Certainly there is no venue for meaningful conflict left with the removal of nexus weakenings and addition of invulnerable supermobs. Village revolts are fun, so we have those and wildnodes to look forward to weekly.
There is, however, the action packed white knuckle thrill ride of writing plays and designing for trades.

Well, Lusternia combat may be on a lull for now, but I say, take advantage of it! Do some RP, hold a quiz, write a book, there is tons of stuff to do other than fight other people.
A lot of it you need to come up with yourself.

How many hours a day do you play? Try cutting back a bit? Play for only 3 hours a day?

You kids need to keep yourselves entertained while daddy goes out and looks for your new mommy.

Everiine2009-12-15 22:44:15
Yes, because Lusternia was so much more exciting when smobs were being killed multiple times a week in raids that lasted mere minutes.
I think the game can be more exciting now that everyone has time to do other things. Of course, it would help if player diplomacy was more than "Ur Evil!" "No Ur Evl!" "I'M DECLARING WARZ ON U!!", followed by a demi zerg. All people care about now is raiding and kills. Newsflash, the game isn't very fun if that's all you do. Eventually you will get bored.
Meaningful conflict is created by the players, not by the mechanics.

This part is incorrect. It may not be fun for -you-, but it's fun for plenty of other people.

This is part of the reason why the balance of power among orgs changes. The top org wins everything, so their fighters get bored and leave (often shifting to another org in order to light the spark again: see Shuyin/Viynain/etc. going to Glom when Seren was on top). Fairly standard, and not really related to supermob buffs, although they might just make the BoP shift quicker as people get bored quicker (which I can't really see as that bad in some respects - it's far more boring for everyone on the losing side if it's too imbalanced, so something which prompts people to switch orgs is good!).
Ayisdra2009-12-15 23:40:13
For me, it gets boring when almost everything (in related to events and such here) involves killing powerful stuff. And when the admins nerf things I like ...(aethercraft, demesnes (before they changed it was thinking of learning PvP, and now I just have no interest anymore from that)
There is also the fact people I enjoyed talking with are leaving/not active/ no awake when I'm on...but not much really can be done about that. Also small things here and there that I can't have that I wanted at the time...but that is again something that just takes time really to get...

I get bored when everytime I login, I have to deal with another Glom kick-and-run raid on Celestia. I can't afford credits to buy the skills that would allow me to defend, so it's usually me going up, telling people t here's a r aid, and being largely ignored while capable defenders laze about on Prime

There's really very little opportunities to learn combat, nor any need to. Find one thing to do over and over in a group situation, because that's all you need in the current PvP scene.
