I've been considering giving out the system I've built up in zMUD for awhile(recall somebody in the streamlining combat thread saying a free zMUD system would be cool), and now that the semester is over and I have some free time, how much interest would there be in a free zMUD curing system? Before giving anything out I still need to do some tweaking to make it more general and less specific to my set-up, so just want to know how much effort I should put into that.
It's far from perfect currently, so having more then just myself using it will certainly help me find and fix all my problems and bugs.
EDIT: Okay here we go, deciding to call it Zenith. I'm honestly far from satisfied with it, but it's still works in most cased for now, I think. I'll work on a README.txt later.
Download or save or whatever this .txt file, , then while in your zMUD Lusternia character, open up the settings window, go to File, then Import Text, and select the ZenithBeta.txt file.
Right now it's set to work with wrapwidth 0, linebreak and all stats in prompt. If you do FORMAT, it should set that and some other things up. This is strictly curing, so any thing else is still up to you currently.
Forgot to mention, if the system is every acting badly or stuck in some loop, DEATH, should reset everything.
PS: Woo Hallifax.
EDIT: Hay, here's some affliction triggers.

It would be very appreciated on my end. I might even try to fight again if I had a zMUD system!

One response, ah well I guess that's good enough for me.
I'm still working on getting it ready for general use and taking out bits I don't feel like giving out yet or at all, but I'll try to have something simple up this weekend.

I wouldn't mind trying it out. I've been using Eth's system for a while, and I love it to death because I can modify it and easily make added aliases and such. But 90% of the time during PVP combat, my screen freezes up and either whites out, or won't let me put any commands in. I don't know if it's the system itself or Mushclient, but I'd love to try something else just to see if it works.

That's never happened to me, so perhaps there's some sort of infinite loop in the system code.
At any rate, if you're looking for faster and more stable, going to zMUD or CMUD is the wrong direction.

Yarly.
Though personally I've never had a problem with zMUD crashing, except when I've accidentally put myself into an infinite loop.

I added an attachment to the first post. Have fun and send me logs, describe all the horrible mistakes and problems you find. D:
A lot of the affliction triggers are still old ones that I made back when I first started and haven't gotten around to double checking yet.

I will be testing this. I value your effort, and a value you as a person, and look you in the eyes as I say this; Lehki, thank you!~
Lehki2009-12-21 22:25:42
I've made a list of a few of the more pressing things that I need to fix, which I'll try to get done during the week. Any of you that said you were gonna try it out find some problems?
Lehki2010-01-01 19:17:20
Just wanna say, I am still working on this. Just got side-tracked with playing with my Gaudiguch alt for awhile, and now need to add in pyromancers, aeromancers, burn levels, and aff messages, so yeah, bit to do now.
Rodngar2010-01-02 09:03:50
I will help you playtest it against Aeromancers, especially if I decide to readjust and scale back down to zMUD. MUSHClient just is not cooperating with me or my computer, whereas cMUD and zMUD are both operating nice. I'd also be glad to help you make things more functional and accessible for less coding-inclined players, too.
I've been trying to find an alternative to Treant (despite it being an incredible standalone system for free, I just cannot tolerate MUSH at all :/) - perhaps this is my answer, due to the only pre-made system for cMUD being defunct now. I could write my own, but it'd take a while.

If you're having troubles with MUSHclient, perhaps you could just ask for help in working those problems out, rather than giving up and "downgrading."
(Many of the problems people have with it seem to come from not understanding how to utilize legacy apps with the new Windows UAC.)

It is on zMUD, I've never used cMUD before. D:
And any comments would be appreciated. I've made more work for myself with bugs and stupid mistakes from trying to make it more user friendly then all those other things I mentioned combined. ):

Is there anyway you could upload a .mud file of this system Lehki? When I put it into zMUD there are no line breaks, and some of the triggers don't make sense. Like one of them has (?:nose|neck|jaw|head|face|ear) as the pattern for a trigger. A .mud version of the file would make things a lot easier cause what I have right now is very confusing.

Importing it worked alright for me, so not sure what's up with that offhand. I've been intending to get back to this after the semester ends, so maybe at the end of the week after my finals I'll try and get that up.

The trouble with .mud files is that you can't merge your settings with it very well, so it's only useful when starting a whole new profile. Importing from text files is a tricky proposition, too, as the export gives different commands than what you actually need to import four out of five times.

Any idea why the export is screwed up like, or what particular things can cause problems?
Unknown2010-05-10 20:14:40
It's been almost two years since I did any coding for zMUD, so I can't give you a definitive list of gotchas. I just remember that I ended up doing a lot of custom script workarounds to make Palisade import reasonably well.
Lendren2010-05-10 20:28:00
Database variables are problematic, particularly if you open the .txt file afterwards. I made a DUMPDB alias that exports the right commands to load a database variable which I paste over the ones zMUD exports.
If you use different special characters, zMUD will not interpret them correctly. It has the functionality needed to make this work, but then doesn't use it.
Large exports with many classes almost always screw something up. Breaking the same thing into a larger number of smaller files is far more likely to work. Sometimes even a single class will need to be split into two.
Once you deal with those three problems, I've had no problems apart from an occasional, irreproducible "zMUD just did that, try again tomorrow" thing. But note that if you end up with conflicts with other things in their systems (even classes of the same name in another place in the class tree) bad things can happen.

I've had this issue with zMUD since I start using it, of it crashing whenever I try open up the database menu, so I haven't touched that feature of it. =0
EDIT: And wait, what do you mean by different special characters?
