Just as a heads up, Asus has horribly bad customer service.

My laptop was leaned against a desk and fell (which is 1.5 feet or so for the side that fell). I wasnt even there for it and they claimed it was customer inflicted damage and voided the warranty. Do NOT buy from Asus.

I am never going to do so again.

I'm currently engaged in a fight with Alienware Customer support. They want me to pay to replace a monitor, which was not broken when I sent it back in, and was wrapped in excessive amounts of bubblewrap. I.E. they broke it and want me to pay for it.

How does excessive bubblewrapping lead to a broken computer?

It was mollycoddled and unprepared for the real world. It was bound to sustain an injury.

I bought one Alienware laptop, some years ago. The casing cracked at the hinge because the parts were weak, but I soldiered on. The hard drive failed on me, so I sent it back and they replaced it.

Then the hard drive failed again about 6-8 months later, and I decided enough was really quite enough.

How amazing, the casing cracked at the hinges for me too.

And Azoth, it doesn't. A closed Laptop wrapped in 4 layers of Bubbles does not become damaged easily. I.E, whoever was inspecting it, or took it out of the box decided to blame me for the failure, and wants me to shell out 576 that I just don't have.

Well, if your laptop gets damaged because of what someone not from ASUS did, then it's probably not ASUS' responsibility under the warranty. The term "customer inflicted damage" was probably not the best choice of words though since it wasn't you inflicting the damage directly.

It basically works like this: Computer fell, something broke + Not Asus fault = They won't fix it. Almost no company would.. The trick is to not be completely honest as to how things happen lol
