While I understand the need for some peaced rooms and have no complaint about them in general, some players are using them as safe havens after declaring and making kills.
I'd like to suggest that after declaring, the character cannot enter a peaced room until a certain amount of time after the declaration.

I have been trying to get this change in for 5 years.

If this change were to occur, you would also have to prevent people from entering manses after involving themselves in pk. Also, a peaced room is functionally no safer than a nexus - with an enchanted statue and guards, and a transverse exit, someone who's got their reflexes on isn't going to die at their nexus unless they're afking in the middle of the night. All in all, an unnecessary change that would be a further blow against rogues.

Once again your attempt to compare the two is defeated by the fact that numerous people have killed or been killed at a nexus, while nobody has ever been killed in a peaced room.

Rogues aren't encouraged in the slightest way by the mechanics of the game. While I actually like the idea of rogues, it does go against the fundamental aspects of the game itself. And yeah, people do get attacked and killed even at a nexus room.

Concur.
Is this Envoy-able?

It is quite clear that rogues are not encouraged - they are, in fact, actively discouraged. That doesn't mean that they need to be discouraged any more than they already are. Killing at a nexus is certainly possible, but it's not a realistic option, and it's not going to happen during peak times except against the most crippled and ineffective org. Anyway, the point about manses stands.
Thank you for that constructive input, Shaddus. Why do I get a feeling that this topic is going to be me arguing against a dozen increasingly irate forumers, and that it will be locked after a page and a half?

Killing at a nexus may not be a realistic option, but it is still an option. Killing at a peaced room is not an option at all, period, end of story. It is a 100% safe spot for people, like yourself, to slip out and cause trouble from then rush back to with perfect safety.
Edit:: I mean it's understandable that you defend peaced rooms. Lose those and suddenly you will have to actually consider your actions and if the deaths about to come from it are going to be worth it.

Quite welcome. It won't get locked so long as you don't go on a tirade about how it's perfectly and morally accepted to kill novices and hide in the Aetherplex.

Not that I am supporting it, but how is it different than getting a personal manse and doing THAT?

It's not.

The very fact that people, like myself, are forced to leave the safe room in order to cause trouble, is reason enough to keep things as they are. My antics get me killed on a fairly regular basis - either by guards and statues, or by player defenders. More often than not I get away, but I'm hardly getting away with zero consequences. And that is to say nothing of the karma curses and avenger avatars. It seems to me like the system is doing its job.

With a manse there is always the chance they were stupid enough to not set permissions. All sorts of people have run to hide in a manse thinking they were safe... they found out they were wrong.
Again with a peaced room, there is no chance whatsoever of any retaliation for someone's actions.
Doman2010-01-22 03:37:26
So, you want to force a mechanics change....for the .01 percent chance that someone who had planned to use their own manse as a haven was stupid enough to give perms to anyone other than themselves?

Actually you can still die in a peaced room, but it requires unusual circumstances such as the coming of Hallifax, starvation, and possibly invoking an angry Divine's wrath.

No, I want a mechanic's change for consistent and constant abuse that people make of peaced rooms, starting years ago with Dysolis defiling then running to hide at avenger till delcaration wore out then running out to do it again, and rinse and repeating. This is a problem that has remained constant for 5 years and instead of fixing it they peaced another room making it even easier for people to do things like this.
People who kick and run back to their nexus annoy me too, ask Urazial, I have bitched about him doing it for years, but there is at least the opportunity to do something to him for it. I can sneak into Glomdoring with a group and team zap him in the hopes he dies or I can dreamweave and hope he can't cure it. There is something that can be done.
With peaced rooms all you can do is... nothing.

I keep doing it, and my level keeps decreasing. Someone who cared about not losing weeks and weeks of work would have stopped long ago... the system, though typically effective, does not take lunacy into account.
