So, in a dazzling display of why I should never touch anything to do with zMud when I'm tried, I tried to do a search for a variable, didn't properly click the search box, and hit enter before I realized I'd just changed the name of a variable and saved it so I couldn't undo it.
If anyone knows what this is actually supposed to be named, that would be amazing. All I know is the value is set to:
keys | sippinghealthprio
sipping | 1
healthprio | 1

Sorry I can't help with your specific question, but I wanted to commiserate with you over the horrible piece of crap that the zmud/cmud setting editor is.
I feel like a battered spouse with zugg, I keep coming back no matter how many times the program screws up in some new and amazing manner.

Just leave him. There are safe houses available. They're called Mushclient or Mudlet.

Indeed. We'll treat you much better.

Tried both, and while I really should like them, they just feel off to me. I am weird in the things that I can't live without. I can put up with a terrible settings editor but a lack of a good splittable scroll bar drives me crazy (if I remember right one lacks one and the other has a badly implemented one).

You mean split-screen scrolling? Mudlet has it. I haven't noticed it's badly implemented, but if you can expound upon that perhaps it can be altered.

They take getting used to. I spent 11ish years using zMud before switching to Mushclient. It was extremely painful at first. Eventually you get used to it, though. Now zMud looks foreign. I do miss split screen, but Mudlet does have it. I've not encountered problems with it, but I've also not used it very much at all.

Mudlet's scroll bar doesn't feel smooth and I don't think it can "snap" in and out. Fortunately it can probably be fixed. Mush doesn't have a scroll bar at all which is actually one big reason why I don't use it.
Another thing that is cool about mudlet is that it automagically backs up all your profile data in case an accident like this happens.

I still think zMUD is the better program. zMUD's script is better suited for the vagarities of MUD life than even MUSH's more versatile languages. zMUD has command line scripting. zMUD is more fully featured. zMUD just plain works more smoothly.
Let me tell you, though, that while being able to do something yourself is good, it's even better when you don't have to. Download Treant. Swallow your pride. Use MUSH. Deal with the ugly.

I came from MM2K prior to MUSH. I missed the splitscreen at first, but now I hardly notice it. When needed, I simply open up another window on the same world connection.
What do you mean by command line scripting, Xavius? If you mean the ability to type in script on the input line, I do that all the time in MUSH. There's also an immediate window, for when you want to execute a larger chunk of script.
Not that I'm trying to convince anyone to go MUSH. To each their own. I'm just curious what features I might be missing without realizing it.

Frankly, I'm amazed someone's still using Palisade. It's very outdated and slow compared to what I use now.
Not to get into an all-out debate on clients, but I respectfully disagree with Xavius. MUSHclient has command-line scripting, lots of features (though, admittedly, some are much harder to find than others), and is plenty fast and stable. Oh, and it's free.
I missed the split-scrollback thing for about a day or two, but the Ctrl+Z option is good enough for me now. Of course, I'm hoping that I can figure out how to implement the split in my own client some day...

I'm using it because I don't know of a more up to date zMud system I can get for free. The ones I find on the forums seem to be for Mush or Mudlet. Mush is even more confusing to me than zMud, and I dislike the no split screen scrolling. If I'm looking in the wrong places though and a better system is out there lurking for zMUD, let me know and it may be time for me to jump ship from Palisade.

Even I was confused by MUSHclient way back when, but I found a way to code in it that I like well enough. I avoid plugins as much as possible, and I avoid the settings/options dialogs as much as I can, too.
But, if it can be done in zMUD, it can be done better in MUSHclient. Even Zugg doesn't support zMUD any more, so why should the rest of us?

Not everyone enjoys forced upgrades because the original program is too screwed up!
Unknown2010-02-05 13:54:01
Well, CMUD is more screwed up than zMUD, so that's a moot point.

Get back to Mudlet coding, you.
