Other posts about webcomics lead me to reminiscing about my favorite ones. And then lamenting that there aren't enough good ones that update frequently enough to keep me entertained.

So, which webcomics are your favorites? I'd like some recommendations.

Though I read (off and on) a half dozen or so, my favorites so far are Girl Genius, Order of the Stick and xkcd.

RICE BOY/ORDER OF TALES. Oh my goodness. Honestly one of the best webcomics out there that deserves about 50 times as much attention as it gets. It's surrealist fantasy but it's really hard to describe, just start reading it. It features a hero with no visible arms or legs on a quest to save the world... sort of. Or at least change it... sort of. Actually it's kind of complicated. Anyway, start with Rice Boy.

For MSPA, start with the Problem Sleuth series and then read Homestuck. Problem Sleuth is complete, and Homestuck is his work-in-progress. As for Jerkcity, I only recommend it to those with a strong stomach.

God there's just so many awful webcomics out there. They typically fall into the categories of "lol nerds r funny", "video gamez", "ANIME!" or "serious bizness" or some combination therein. Pretty much all of the ones that take themselves seriously are steaming piles.

The thing about xkcd is that when the author has a really good idea, it's generally quite funny. However, he only seems to have a really good idea once a week at most, and it updates three times a week.

One really good comic that nobody's mentioned yet is Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal.

Achewood, Dinosaur Comics, Erfworld, Sam & Fuzzy, and the Adventures of Dr McNinja.
