TL;DR summary: Is there a reason we cannot change the prompt so the x for balance is removed if you're off either arm or leg balance?
I've been struggling a little writing a foolproof way for my system to handle cures requiring balance (cleanse, writhe impale and the like). When using kata attacks, your strikes take arm/leg balance but the x remains in your prompt. You need to have 'x' balance, both arms and leg balance to use a cure like cleanse/writhe.
Normally this isn't hard to deal with, though I think it's needlessly complicated. It requires recording all attacks using arm or leg balance to set a flag accordingly. It becomes troublesome though, when you add things like blackout or missing targets into the mix.
If you're blacked out, you won't see your attacks and hence, won't track balance properly. I know if blacked out you don't see the prompt anyway, but the effects from losing balance under blackout carry on after the blackout is cured. You'll see the 'x' but will have no idea what arms or legs are off bal.
Another problem is that sometimes, when you miss your opponent, you'll get the message:
^You strike out at \\w+, but \\w+ neatly sidesteps the blow\\.$
which doesn't indicate whether it was an arm or leg attack that missed. This adds to the problem of tracking balance for curing.
Can anyone think of a reason why we could not change the balance x in the prompt to reflect arm/leg balance? I can't think of anything for monks, but would like to hear if dual wield warriors or other classes would have a problem with it.

CONFIG PROMPT ARMBALANCE ON
There ought to be a leg option, too, but there isn't yet.

Yes. There are some commands that do not work when off-balance, but do work without arm-balance (or with only one arm off-balance). Just stick with the armbalance one, it makes life easier than trying to meld them all into one.

Like what? Any commands available to everyone like this? Or only warrior/monk stuff?

I bugged this back when I first started out as a monk and received a "working as intended" response. I just track it manually now so it is not a big deal but it would be a nice thing to have.

It's not a bug. It's a feature request. So, technically, it's working exactly as intended, yup.

Things that work with 1 arm broken but not 2 also work with 1 arm off-balance but not two, for example. I can LINK NODE as long as one arm is on balance, for example, but if both are off-balance I'm told that both arms are "disabled".

It's disturbing that you know that. I wish I was tanky enough to be able to keep linking, even while things are beating on me and breaking my arms...Or the other way around, for that matter. Stab with one hand, continue summoning more with the other hand?
Spoiled warriors.

Start the next link when only one critter is left alive. Should work just fine for non-warriors too.

Works fine for mages.

I take back my original statement.
Spoiled demigods.
