Explain to me how this is fair?
I'm in a city, in which a city enemy steps into. I attack them on enemy territory for them, they step out, I step out, and they kill me (without declaring) without getting avenger because I "autodeclared inside the city". How the hell does that make sense?

Because...
Avenger hates alt players...
...But it beats me honestly. I think it has always been like that?

Yet, if the problem is reversed ( I step into a city I'm enemied to, step out, someone melds outside the city and it hits me so I attack them, kill them) I get put on their avenger list.
Daereth2010-02-19 06:02:18
Auto declare doesn't even work past avenger suspect, so ya got me. I can't even defend shrines from Inagin because I can't attack him through suspect even though defiling bleeding auto declares the entire order.

Sounds like a bug, because that's not how this works.
If, say, as an enemy of Celest I walk into Celest and you attack me...
You do not autodeclare me.
I autodeclare you.
Thus, if I kill you in territory that Avenger will protect you in, while that declaration lives you will get suspect. If you kill me, nothing happens. We use this in Glom by zapping an enemy who enters the area. Once zapped, they're free game for the next 5 minutes; anyone can DEFEND me and attack the person who was in the area but left.

You would think so, but it happened at least four times yesterday with Munsia outside either Celest or Hallifax. Because I hit her inside the city, I apparently autodeclared her.

I recall that if you have somebody on your suspect list, if you ever attack them on prime you'll lose suspect even if you were defending somebody or they were in enemy territory.

It sounds like a bug, which means it shouldn't be posted at all. Even if it's not a bug, this really isn't the proper forum for it...

It's not a bug, it's a design feature.
And while this one might be a broken feature, Daedalion actually brought forward an important issue that we know is working as intended.

Common sense (not so common sometimes, maybe) tells us that it's functioning backwards. A city enemy whacks you in the city and runs away, you should still be protected by the Avenger. They, however, should not be protected, at least for a period of time.

Then BUG it because that's not how it works
Hitting her inside the city makes her autodeclare you. Like I said, we use that in Glom frequently-- zap the person who is wandering around inside, everyone DEFENDs the zapper, then can just chase the person down even if they leave the area.

It doesn't work if you're in enemy territory. So there's a rather aggravating situation where you cannot defend yourself - you have to have this person whacking on you as you leave, and you can't whack back.

That actually depends on the enemy territory.
In some it drops, in some it doesn't.
I've never found a pattern that makes sense.

Actually I think it depends on whether or not you've attacked something in that territory. If you haven't, you'll lose suspect on the person who attacks you, if you have, you won't lose suspect and can't attack back. Not 100% on it though.
Shamarah2010-02-20 18:15:55
Attacking a mob loyal to a city, or a mob loyal to a village that is loyal to a city, causes you to auto-declare all of that city's citizens.
Lehki2010-02-20 20:15:26
Well the situation I was thinking of was, I got ganked by Thoros then like 10 minutes later, he's running around Prime Serenwilde killing things, and I lost suspect when I tried to chase him out.
Also lost suspect on Lanfayr when tried to defend lendren against him, when it wasn't enemy territory. ):
