I really would like to charge the healing part of my tome without going to a durn enchanter (since I can't ever find them anyway ><). Anyone know where I might find some mobs that do regular old Magic damage so I can charge the healing part of my Magictome?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Well, you could always go poke the Kira mob. It's moving though, so it might be hard to catch.
More seriously, very few mobs deal actual magic damage. The mobs that DO deal magic damage are either aligned with an org, guards or very strong. I think the beasts on... Libra? deal magic damage. Maybe the Nairemru in the Scorpion caverns.
And if you have an aethership, try to fight figurines of magic-users. Figurines copy the skills of the one they're a copy of.

Gorgogs do magic damage along with the fire and physical, I used to be able to clear them without sipping, but I think they upped the fire damage (and fixed it so it actually sets you ablaze).

You're definitely set ablaze by gorgogs, yes. Although since they're in the water, you won't really be ablaze for long.

Gorgog caves have no water, I go through a lot of frost some days. But yeah, definitely do magic damage still.

Ah, only ever encountered them in the Inner Sea. Didn't know they were anywhere else.

How do you tell what type of damage is being done? Just by the message? Or do people take the time to test damage with and without defs to figure it out and then everyone else just "knows" what they do?

A lot of it is speculation with the messages and how some attacks hurt particular people a lot more than others.

Too bad there is not a skill you could enable that would list the damage type after an attack.

Or even a config.

There's also the matter of people dying to the mob - deathsight is generally dependant on the damage type (with specific exceptions for particular abilities and instakills). "X has been slaughtered by the awesome might of Y" is, for instance, one of the unblockable damage type deathsight messages.
Shamarah2010-02-26 23:55:30
Most of the attacks are pretty obvious anyway. I mean, I wonder what damage type " breathes fire at you" is?
Lawliet2010-02-26 23:55:40
I just really wish we could use a cube to charge tomes, it's a trans skill, it shouldn't have this kind of setback. My tome hasn't had any healing charges in quite a few weeks, and even then they're from combat so I only get six or seven charges at most before they're used.
Shamarah2010-02-27 00:00:10
Dude, just send me a tell and I'll make a trigger and hit you with symbol strike for a few minutes.

What damage type is powersink/sap (whichever the one that does damage is), or pox? I seem to remember there was a passive magic damage aff, it's just rarely used ....

Right, but there is always the chance that it is a mix of magic and fire, or perhaps the damage type was updated for some reason and the message was never changed.

Why not just pay some novice to nature curse you a few dozen times?

Time to find me a baby Serenwilder. >:D
Other than that... Gorgogs? I need to find where those are again. >< I'm slowly remembering everything I once knew about Lusternia... readjusting is hard. :< Especially after a year and a half of playing games with graphics. @_@

Well, as I implied earlier, you don't need to catch an enchanter to get your tome recharged. All you need is a Guardian or Naturalist to use basic bashing attacks on you until your tome is recharged. Fast, safe and fun for everyone involved.

Healthleech? I sometimes sip anatine and healthleech myself to sit at Mother and freak people out by healing them a bit, not sure what damage type it is though.
