PvP Faction

PvP in Lusternia mostly happens off planes or enemy areas where Avechna wouldn't intervene. Though it might have benefits from killing an enemy such as a slight gain in experience, there's no real reward in killing your opponent. So I was thinking introducing a faction system similar to Guildwars or other MMORPG out there that has a similar system.

PvP factions could be turned in for rewards such as a bonus exp gain for the entire game month, add power to your organization, remove your name from someone's vengeance list or ask for a karma blessing for half the required karma. I was thinking turning PvP factions in for a slight amount of gold but I guess no one would really bother hunting mobs if that's the case (still subject for debate.)

So here's how it works:

PvP faction is gained when you kill your opponent, each unique kill (your last hit) will gain 20 faction, 10 faction if you're part of the group or squad that did the killing. 50 faction if you decide to risk killing them on neutral territory (declaring them).

Free-for-alls, duels and wargames also give PvP factions:

The winner of the Free-for-all will get 100 PvP Factions + 10 for every participant that joined in the free-for-all (so 50 participants in the game would yield 500 faction to the winner!)

The group who wins the Wargames will gain 200 PvP Factions + 10 for each member of that group, however to prevent abuse, the faction gained will be limited to 10 members only.

The team gain 10 factions for each player slain during Wargames (100 for the one who did a unique kill)

Players gain 10 factions per player slain during Free-for-alls.

Now for the list of things you could trade after turning in factions.

PvP Factions required: - Item:
1500 - 50% increase experience gain*
2500 - 75% increase experience gain*
3500 - 100% increase experience gain*
2000 - Gain a karma blessing for half the karma cost
2000 - Give your opponent a karma curse for half the karma cost**
5000 - Give 500 units of power to your respective Organization

*24 hours
**Opponent must be in your bully list

Well, that's my idea to make PvP more lucrative and perhaps the use of the arena more.

Other ideas and comments are welcome.

Edited:
Remove the free stuff, removal of name from others bully list.

Edited2:
Lessen the faction amount gained.

No.
Lysandus2010-03-09 05:34:16
may I ask why?
Rika2010-03-09 05:36:15
Because all these things will do is encourage griefing.
Lysandus2010-03-09 05:38:00
then how about if we just apply this to the arena then?

that way arena will be used more?

The arena is spammable because of the queues function. You're basically giving people free perks, some which are just going to encourage more griefing, such as the karma related things, for getting all their friends to join a queue which takes a single command.

We already have achievements for arena events. Let's leave it at that.

well, worth a shot in sending ideas.

we could remove the karma stuff then or free stuffs? I just put them in as an example and maybe you might have a better idea what those interested in pvp to exchange without giving them a big boost? Well, probably the exp boost is ok but I don't know the rest lusternia has to offer.

Edit:

Also do note that it'll take a while for them to reach the amount of factions required...

If it was Arena based, people would just spam-arena with a few other folks until everyone had the items.

If not Arena based, people would just farm others.

No to encouraging griefers. No to yet another system for buffs (technically, just making other systems less expensive, but close enough).

oh well, scrap this idea then
