Dark Virago quest effects

With the quest in the Chancel where the cursed suits of living dark armour got released, I think the effects of this should be dramatically lessened. Currently, aggressive suits of dark armour are -respawning- in Rockholm and Southgard, both organisation territory. They come in large numbers and often crowd in a few rooms. I have already seen a group of 14 in a single room with at least three on other side of that room. Given that these are not soft denizens it takes a high level person to kill one, let alone in groups. I don't think any quest should have mobs released in great numbers/strength like this one.

Well it's Azbir's Army, not Azbir's gaggle of a couple pushovers. Kneejerking doesn't really solve things appropriately. I'm sure there's a way to split them up or just bring a couple friends to clear.

I tanked 3 rounds of 8-9 in blackout solo- I'm not convinced any change is needed.

I don't know... whenever there is an event that has invasion mobs, people (you in particular) are pretty gungho to group up, go out and kill them, to find and stop the evil, etc. You are wishing this to be not the case because it is 'just a quest' I presume... but, just because you know the mechanics doesn't really mean you should treat it any differently than you would the latest tempest storm/rabid fish in your city streets/sentient geometry raid. I assume there's a counter quest to do... go do it! It may be annoying, and you may be mad at Ixion... but quests that actually have an impact on the game world are nifty, even if you are on the negative side of things. Dynamic world and all that.
Rika2010-05-09 05:31:05
One off events are one off. Repeatable quests are repeatable.
Ixion2010-05-09 05:45:19
Before this time how many times have they been released, or even banished the flame warriors since the event opened how many months ago? Zero
Malarious2010-05-09 06:09:58
Wait they arent super squishy and seem to group alot? Sounds like Eventru Realm mobs, do they off eq too?

In all seriousness though, they are a different kind of bad than TBC or such but they are by no means all that much worse. either take a group or ignore them since they dont do much otherwise.
Rika2010-05-09 06:22:19
Can't really ignore them when they're in a village which is due to revolt soon.

Edit: Wait, why are we even comparing these mobs to God realm mobs? You choose to raid a god realm. We have no choice in these mobs "raiding" us.

I've an eye on this thread. Keep it civil, as I can see it not becoming so quickly.

The counterquest actually doesn't involve the dwarf villages at all, so you could just go do the counter (which might take a few tries, depending upon how familiar you are with it) rather than spending hours trying to kill the suits of armour. The suits being in the dwarf villages isn't going to interfere.
Rika2010-05-09 07:20:13
Heh, unfortunately it doesn't take suits of armour for the counter quest to be stopped for an hour or so.

We were all vaguely impressed when Kethuru instagibbed the entire world a few years ago but I imagine it would get pretty old if players could inflict it on another org every day, too. Apples and screwdrivers.

My point was that if people are willing to jump all over a big bad and suss out the cure whenever it comes up, then what difference does it make if this time it has come up because some sadistic player, as opposed to some sadistic admin (sorry)? In truth, this effect is nowhere near the level of invasion-type events, as it's localized and the dealing with the spawned mobs is entirely optional - so yes, apples to screwdrivers indeed.

I don't see what's wrong with having a diabolical army of doom and bastardry that cannot be single-handedly wiped out by a low level adventurer (Horde, Mirror Armies, Orcs, Mugwumps) in a few minutes. As for 'every day', it's a bit soon. As with other quests of this nature, it may be a fad for a few days at a time, and then depending on boredom, alliances, or the general circumstance of its usefulness (apparently it's incredibly useful today, as it's blocking those with negative village feelings from earning good vibes before the revolts), it'll fall out of fashion.

The primary difference I would say is that admin might only do an event like that every few months at most, players are well... players...

and my point was that it's only been done once in months (once ever in fact)

was anyone aware of the result of the quest?

If no then your statement means little because people then didn't know the new toy they had access to

Keep in mind that there is a cooldown. Thorgan has had to 'regain strength' before one can even start the counterquest. Haven't checked ingame but if he's still resting then that's over an RL day of not being able to access your own village. (He started resting when Ixion banished the flame warriors 24 hours ago).

Eh that's a bit of an exaggeration. It's no more treacherous than, say, astral with a couple linked mobs running around.
Ssaliss2010-05-09 14:47:04
Which for the young'uns (and a few old'uns) means pretty much the same thing.
Saran2010-05-09 15:27:31
The other solution is to wait until it is turned against the wrong group. The quest will be torn down in microseconds even if those people would currently argue that it is fine as is.
Sylphas2010-05-09 16:39:59
If Rika died to them as a demigod, it's a bit more dangerous than people are saying, methinks. Clumps of 15 have been mentioned? That's kind of prickly for the vast majority of people.
