Hey everyone, I have recently considered giving Lusternia another go but first am looking for some advice on which client to use.
I think I used to use Zmud but now there is Cmud to, is this a complete upgrade? So should I just use Cmud, or are there other
better clients?
I know alot of this comes down to personal preference and if my memory serves me well mushclient has a steaper learning
curve but is it worth the extra effort or should I stick with what I (used to) know?
Any advice or other client suggestions welcome thanks! Sorry for the noobness.
EDIT
Realised I could make myself alot clearer so..
1) Is Zmud still a good client to use?
2) Is Cmud just a superior version and thus better to use?
3) Decision between mushclient or the above personal preference, or are there specific pros and cons for each?
4) Any other clients I should look at.
Thanks again!

You'll get more help from others with MUSH these days, there's been kind of a mass migration away from cMUD. Mudlet is also looking good, but until we get a Treant level system I don't think it will be as popular.

If you don't want to go to the trouble of coding your own system, use MUSHClient and get Treant. If you have dozens of hours to sink into a minor coding project, then either zMUD or cMUD are fine. (I use MUSH, but I still like zScript better. It's a good tool for MUD scripting.)

My opinion? Forget about zMUD or CMUD, and use MUSHclient instead.
I like CMUD (which is what I currently use), and it's far more user-friendly to start off with, but the curing systems available for it all seem quite old and out-of-date, unlike Treant and Avant Garde 2.0 for MUSHclient. That's the main downside, from where I'm standing. Also, CMUD is purported to be rather slow and a touch unstable compared to less bloated clients (I suspect all those user-friendly features cause the bloating).
You may also want to keep an eye on Mudlet. There are people working to develop and maintain curing systems for it, including the Vadimeister himself.
All of the above applies only if you plan to participate in combat. If you don't like combat, CMUD might actually be the best choice. It has more features than zMUD and is kept much more up-to-date, although some people do still prefer zMUD.
Edit: I was slow in posting, so some of my sentiments got ninja'd.

Hmm, I am hoping to get into combat and even begin working on my own system but obviously that means alot of work. I'm wary about starting out in something like mudlet and then finding out it doesnt have all the tools necessary, so would you say mush is my best bet? At first glance it seems to me to be more complicated. And zmud not an option?

Zmud is an option, if you so choose.
However, several coders who work on MUSH feel that Zmud is a bit slower in processing things. If you want to use Zmud, and think you can make it work, go for it!

Life is too short to write a system from scratch. Get MushClient so you can run free Treant and do the system work you want to do by modifying Treant.

I agree with a lot of the people here: use MUSHclient or Mudlet.
I can't speak for Treant, but from what everyone has said, it seems to be pretty good. If you plan on coding your own system from scratch some time, then I suggest you also look at Mudlet.
Both MUSHclient and Mudlet support Lua, so it isn't too rough going between the two. That is, if you started on MUSHclient to use Treant, any aliases or scripts you may make in MUSHclient aren't too rough to port over to Mudlet. Depending on the amount you make though it could be a bit discouraging!
I've moved various things from MUSHclient to Mudlet with no problems. I could move my healing system over to it pretty easily as well in under an hour or so.
Anyway, you're probably best off starting with MUSHclient. When you get more familiar and are ready to make your own system, you can decide if you want to stick with MUSHclient or use Mudlet.
