I've been hearing from pretty much everyone that Cantors are terrible, but I haven't been able to find out why exactly. While I probably won't change classes over it, it would be nice to know what my guild's apparently glaring weaknesses are. sad.gif

Cantors are the lute-whistlers, right?
Rodngar2010-07-02 19:29:39
What I was told once was that Cantors just don't have enough 'oomph' in their Music specialization to make anything truly STICK, so they have no actual way to initiate a kill.

Ah, I see. How about as a support guy whose job is to help other people kill?

Which is what I thought Bards were meant to be anyway.

1) diffuse effects (it's not uncommon to see two Starhymn verses mirror one verse in another song)
2) lack of synergy
3) too much defense, not enough offense.

In terms of group support, it's not terrible, but it's no Shadowbeat.

HELP BARD still says so, but since almost immediately after the guilds were released, it's been taken as written that they're not meant to be any good at it, and envoy reports and such always assume that. Any proposal to make them better at it get shot down. Guardians and wiccans are still far better at it.

QFT. They're the bottom rung on all these points when you compare them to the other bard guilds.

In the players' minds, there is no such thing as a support skill/guild/archetype. Either they need to be able to single-handedly take on any other skill/guild/archetype or their skill/guild/archetype is unbalanced.

I call them lute-whistlers, because essentially they usually play their little lute at me and then I kill them.

Just sayin'.
