Hello everyone, I had just switched over from Achaea due to several issues with their Divines. I heard that Lusternia has better RP and administration and so here I am! I was always more combat based and so would like to know what would you experienced players vouch as the most suitable class for PK. So far i've heard the Nekotai are pretty awesome.

Bards work for general slaughter.

Monks are good too.
Esano2010-07-05 03:29:40
You can make (almost) any class good for PK. What's more important is avoiding the dead-end specs for some classes.

For example, a runist or dreamweaver mage isn't as good for 1v1 combat as a telekinetic or telepath. They have their good points for group combat, but are pretty much a one-trick (or two-trick) pony.

Cantors seem to be pretty dead - they're another one-trick pony, pretty much stuck trying to use soulless behind blackout.

The new Gaudi/Halli guilds haven't really been gauged properly - they're actually waiting on a special envoys (classleads) report.

All the classes are good if you can pull a Narsrim or a Ceren.

Glad to have you in Lusternia! And what you heard was right! Lusternia is way better than Achaea!

Illithoid acrobatic poisoner monk. Though I might be a bit biased...

Don't choose Moondancers. mellow.gif

Some classes are more mobile/flexible than others. (This is unrelated to above sentence.)
Unknown2010-07-05 05:20:06
Moondancers are excellent, you just have no one able to use them to max whorishness.

Maybe it's because about 90% of old SW qqed the org / made alts in Gaudi.
Shaddus2010-07-05 05:26:39
Shadowdancers are decent if you're used to Ents, or nihilists. Celestines are ok, geomancer/pyromancer demenses are awesome.
Unknown2010-07-05 05:30:51
Merian Hartstone runie. Go.

Also, welcome.

Well. Truthful fix. Although, thinking about it, yes, seems a lot to Gaudi.

Also, yes, Moondancers are very useful! Just don't think their style of 1v1 is very fun.
Unknown2010-07-05 06:46:48
No, it really is Gaudi.

3 old Serens play alts there (and they're VA's), Lekius, Aiyana moved there, Gregori made his alt there his new main, Chalcedony moved recently, etc.

Is Acrobatic better than Psionics for PK? Also, is Tahtetso any good?

I don't suppose Aeromancers are any good?

I prefer 1v1 and would like to rely on myself so skill sets that requires collective effort to be good at is something i'd avoid =\\

Btw, is it possible to be Nekotai AND a member of Hallifax?

P.S Xyas, no, im not Daje, but uh, i'll tell you who I am if you tell me who you are?

Unknown2010-07-05 07:25:35
Have to be in the organisation that the guild is based in.

It's generally agreed than Acrobatics is better than Psychometabolism for PK.

All monks are good.

If you are after something different to Achaean combat, go for druid or mage. The concept of a demesne is something you won't have come across before.

If you're after a strong 1v1 class, just about anything with the correct selection of Tertiary skillset will do the trick. You will just have to find out what their gimmick is. If you like a strong, linear sort of offence - try Celestine, Moondancer, Shadowdancer or any bard except Cantor. Nihilists are very good too, but I wouldn't consider them as linear as the others due to their wider range of viable kill methods.

If you're after a 1v1 class which can build up to a variety of kill conditions, I'd suggest monk or knight. The amount of variety is somewhat dependant on the Kata or Knighthood specialisation you choose, but the flexibility of the wounding and momentum systems mean there's a lot of room for you to improvise and develop your own style.

If you're after something which will allow you to contribute to group combat (most out of arena combat is Group vs Group) you can't go past Mage/Druid for a demesne or Bard for strong roomwide passives. The other archetypes can perform well in groups too, but they can't really dictate the flow of a group fight like a bard or melder.

Not strictly true, but breaking that rule is generally more trouble than it's worth. If you really wanted to, you could join the Nekotai and trans all your skills, then quit Nekotai and Glomdoring and run off to join Hallifax (if they even let you in - I don't know how Hallifax handles things). The tricky part is that any Nekotai skill that is marked as requiring Master Ravenwood Power will not function for you as a citizen of Hallifax, because you're drawing power from their Nexus instead (the Matrix). Off the top of my head, that will deny you use of at least three skills in the Nekotai skillset: Boost, ScorpionFury, and the Trans skill FinalSting.

You won't be able to join one of Hallifax's guilds because 1: Hallifax has no monk guild, and 2: this isn't Achaea where guilds/Houses can accept characters of more than one class.

Also, the Nekotai will probably be trying to kill you at every chance they get for being a renegade with their skills.

EDIT: And finally, some forum goers may start referring to you as "Munsia". Maybe.

I like classes that requires certain creativity/skill to use; played a Jester in Achaea. Will an Aeromancer do the trick? or would a Knight class be more suitable?
