This is not a "which is better" post.
Anywho, I'm finding myself to be a little bored, and just want to look into a few things. Therefore, information is needed! =D
In concern to the guilds, how populated are each? I like having people to talk to!
I've read up on the skillsets, and each seem to be pretty nifty. I've always liked mages, I just don't care for Celest or Magnagora. Aqua really isn't my thing, where Magnagora doesn't ever seem to have many people around.
As for Hallifax and Gaudiguch, how populated are they? Are they becoming more organized? During revolts, are they on their way to becoming forces with which to be reckoned?
As for tertiaries, what are the pros/cons of telekinesis/telepathy in relation to Pyromancy and Aeromany?
Anywho, the biggest issue I have with joining a new guild is size. I find myself to have a much better gaming experience when I get to interact with people who are around regularly.
Thanks!

I can't speak for the Pyromancers, but the Aeromancers are pretty solid. The Aeros still have a good membership, even after people left for the Institute, and I still see Aero's coming through the portal regularly.
Hallifax is pretty decent in revolts. Its no Glomdoring by any means, but it has done pretty well for itself the last few revolts and its only getting better. Its also gotten villages on its own.
Can't really help you with tertiaries, sorry!
I hope that helps!

Pyros have had a healthy player base since opening.
I have no idea on the villages thing since I've managed to not be around for one in months.
As for telekinesis/telepathy, I generally prefer telekinesis because it's great for hunting and yet is still fairly powerful in pk. Burst whoring is pretty good, and barrier can really screw people under the correct circumstances. There are good things about telepathy, too, but there's really no hunting stuff to speak of. Can still telebomb with mindburst, though, dominate/massdominate is fun to play with. Which you choose can also be affected to a small degree by which guild you actually choose since they have various levels of offensive vs defensive skills/mechanics in their primary skillset.

Most of Gaudiguch left for Illuminati but that'll ideally stop.
Hallifax has been doing ok in a revolts, but on the inside seem slow to warm to the idea that you need military might most of the time to actually win it.
Gaudiguch can't be assed to do revolts.
Aeromancer demesne is more supportive vs. Pyromancer no support at all. Pyromancer demesne was utterly shafted in a report where the envoy wasn't active to defend the guild.
Aero - TP, Pyro - TK

Why do you say that? I mean, I'm not a combatant by any stretch of the imagination, but there are way, way, way more Aeromancers who use Telekinesis than there are Aeromancers who use Telepathy (seriously, I can only think of two).

Because it's easier to do well as a TK than as a TP. Blackout/trip/vessels x 100 to win. Barrier in groups. Forcefield if needed to tank.

Also, most of those TK Aeromancers became TK before the Aeromancy changes. I'm considering switching to TP though.

Akui is a gaudi, my alt is a substantially invested aero. I like the idea of support specs, but old aero definitely needed a boost (which it got, and is an amazing demesne all around now with a great ability to stack herb cures), and pyro had a few aspects that made it grossly broken (I was killed by accident, by a friend, in 30 seconds or so).
The special report, regarding pyro, went far too far, and made it crap. It's been so utterly wrecked that its hard for me to see that report as anything other than gross negligence or fraud. Pyros should get an attachment to the next special report, or have the special report changes partially rolled back and then adjusted, rather than punish an entire skillset for an inactive envoy and make them try and repair the thing over real life years, if it can be done through normal envoy channels at all.
PS- my aero is dreamweaving, because DW has a nice amount of herb stacking potential, coupled with sleep effects and lots of damageless afflictions from the aeromense, especially when motes are added in. I also made a plan to defend the continuum that would make a demesne anchored at the nexus and unbreakably encompass a large amount of the spheres, anchoring the other end at one of the spheres (with the demesne rune), and plant an array of motes at each.
However, I'm finding this to be less practical in practice than I thought it would be, so I'll probably go TP when I want to dump the credits.
Furien2010-07-05 22:04:16
^What all of them said, plus Aeromancers have more mental afflictions (at least, now they do) making it easier to work with TP in general.

There are also plenty of Celestines with Healing, that doesn't make it a good idea.

Hehe, I wasn't trying to say if it was a good idea or not. I was honestly wondering, not sarcasti-wondering!
