I am trying to determine how my character looks however I noted that each race has a size score which would lead me to believe there is a range for height for each race that may be determined acceptable. I was wondering if anyone would be able to give me a rough idea for each race?

Generally it's a foot of height for ever 2 points of size.
Gregori2010-07-08 03:18:23
A good rule is every point = on average 6 inches, making humans an average height of 6'.

That's exactly what I said!

Ah thank you very much. Now I have a general Idea of how big my character is to things.
Everiine2010-07-08 03:35:17
Of course, that begins to break down with other races. Trill are noted in the help file to be tall, but their size indicates that their "average" height is 5 ft... so there's plenty of leeway. It starts to get out of hand though when you have a 13 ft tall Furrkin or a 6 in tall Igasho. Use reason.
Sylphas2010-07-08 03:35:51
It also measures mass. Trill are tall but slender and kind of hollow, I guess. Tae'dae are bulky but not hugely tall, afaik.
Everiine2010-07-08 03:38:04
Ah, yes, I always forget about mass.
Unknown2010-07-08 03:55:07
Ah ok. I was mostly looking to know I could use my size in rp in relation to objects.
for instance at 3 in tall I can easily sit on a fist sized rock

In my compulsive looking at other people's descriptions, I've tended to notice more 'shorter than average for such and such race' than taller specimens. Maybe you can get an idea from denizens? There's for sure at least one eight-foot-tall Trill denizen in Hallifax, and he's apparently not a giant among Trill.

And yet, the more titans and demigods we have, the more common these things are. Except there's no way to tell if the igasho in front of you is six inches tall (he probably is if he's a demigod). Ultimately, be whatever size you want to be.

What does the size stat do anyway... Mechanically speaking of course.
Ssaliss2010-07-08 12:01:11
Lowering your size gives you dex but lowers str, and vice versa. It also lowers your health a bit (not much), I believe. I think the summoning resist and tumble/writhe-bonuses were removed, but not sure.

Iasmos said that the writhe and summoning bonuses were removed. I believe him.
Ssaliss2010-07-08 12:27:40
Yep, thought as much.

So, size in itself is unimportant, only adjustments to size will produce these results?

I'm unsure about the health, really. It might come into play even if you don't alter your size (Ssaliss is a size 1 Demi with 5110 health, so I'm guessing that 10 comes from the 1 size). The stats only change if you change size though, yes.

Ssaliss is six inches tall! Now I'm gonna imagine putting him in my pocket every time I see him!

I've actually been trying to rewrite (or write at all) my description so it would show my small size... but so far, I've failed miserably

You get a health bonus directly calculated from your size, if my level 1 alt testing is any indication. Whatever you get from the constitution and level calculation, plus the bonus from your size stat, is your total health. Size matters more than a point or two of con at level 1, but I'm almost positive it doesn't scale at all, so it's probably almost unnoticable at demi unless you specifically compare sizes.
