So I want to build aetherhomes, with 2, 3 homes on an aethermanse, each next to each other, all of them sharing a few artifacts. As an option for people who want a home, but don't have the money to create one. How should the homes be designed, and the mechanics behind it? If I were to create an entrance at one point, then build the house. Is it possible to later put an additional room in between the previous room and the home ahead, to create a path that may lead to another home? And are there any artifacts that I should try to get for these places? And I have no prior experience designing these things. Should I go look in a design book of any sorts for inspiration?
And what happend to the last aethercity, DeepNight? I know people still use it, but as a trade hub. Do people still walk on the streets there, or has it become dead? Or is there a brand new future coming for it?
And is it possible to create docks for people who have aetherships to dock on the aethermanse? And is it possible to have the aethermanse connected to a place like etherwilde, or would it need to be a ship to move and reside there?

It would be really awesome to be able to... embed an algontherine permanently in the aethers and create a player-made bubble... probably not happening though.

The overall design of the manse would determine what artifacts you would want. If you design a trade area then you might want some of the trades miniatures. If you want outdoors/foresty rooms you might want those artifacts. The marble archway could be good for the ambiances.
Layout wise, I would suggest treating the fulcrux room as a hub pathways to different sections of the manse could branch off from there and you could connect it however you like(oooh hidden pathway between two homes). But if you want more than one "home" within a manse then you don't want people trampling through your home to visit someone elses.
Not sure about deepnight personally, I know I didn't really think about it at all until you mentioned it here.
You cannot dock a ship to a manse.
And you can only activate the fulcrux orb at the aetherplex so if you want it to be at the ethereal dock then you'd need to make it a ship.

Hmm, since I was a kid, no matter how this sounds, I wanted to create an aethercity that competes with deepnight. Have something like a floating castle, with on the bottom, three trade hubs, then a glass elevator or a spiraling set of stairs that go up to the main floor, which opens up to an "artifact" something of a city square, and see if I could get killable denzins that come back to have areas were novices could come and kill these denzins for a quest of sorts. I think the modern take of it would be something like this:

You could do something with manse dwellers, and if you have an ecologist they have an ability that would give you critters (my manse has had foxes in it forever but they don't reset.
But if what you want is to create your own city, it's not going to happen. What you are looking for is going to be in the thousands of credits range. You could make the archway or the fountain the center point. But still, with a trade hub it's going to be expensive.
The glass elevator will not happen, the only way you could do something like that is if you had a secondary route and the elevator was a room that you manually connected and then disconnected (in that order, all manse rooms must eventually link back to the fulcrux)
btw, kinda drunk right now so if there are errors I won't care until I sober up and only then if I remember posting this.

You can rearrange your rooms any way you like, with a few exceptions:
A multiple-homes-in-one-manse setup probably should use the fulcrux just as an entry point and common area, leading to a "hall" (you can describe as a lawn, street, corridor, ladder, etc.) that has doors off it leading to the various homes.
- You can never change which room is the fulcrux. (Though, by redoing several descriptions, you can change which room the fulcrux room is.)
- You can never move aethership modules.
- You can never move manse room upgrades like willpower gems or concealment stakes.

My manse is currently 40 rooms, 41 including the stock rooms. This alone, minus stockroom, comes out to about 6,200,000 gold. Then add in a few things, the shops comes with the stock room, but it costs 1000 credits, currently in game buying credits at AVERAGE price would cost you 6,866,000 gold (current average price is 6866). The each of the trade miniatures is 500 credits each which buying again would cost 3,433,000 gold (I have one of these in my manse, a jewelry bench). I also have a fountain which is 250 credits or 1,716,500 gold. The last touches I have are stasis gems. You have to remember the artisan stuff you need and, sorry artisans, it is not worth letting that stuff decay, it is WAY too expensive, so a little investment of 50 credits into a stasis gem and you artisan stuff will never decay (I have 5 of these I think in my manse). Also if you wanted to change your manse into an aetherhsip is a whole slew of more expenses. So will exclude this so total cost of my manse is:
6.2 million for the manse in itself
2000 credits roughly is the upgrades I mentioned, and there is a LOT more you can do with it as well.
HELP MANSE ARTIFACT could help you out in what you might be spending credits wise.

Well there is no true neutrality, even deepnight banned a bunch of people for org related reasons. Anyway those buying rooms in other peoples' manses should always be willing to lose their investment when they or the manse owner changes/gets enemies to orgs.
That is really why I think it is better people just bite the bullet and get their own manse, or at least stick to family manses.

It goes a bit deeper than that I guess. Let me show you:
Ok, so you enter the room. There is a silver lined desk ahead of you, with a denzin there that when asked, will lead you in the directions of the manse. To your right, you will find a staircase that goes up to the main deck, and to the left when you are climbing up, you will see aetherspace, to the right you would see a beam, like a smaller generator, holding the main deck to the entrance. At the top of the stairs you will exit onto the main yard, with an extra shop there if you want anything. I know you can have more than one shop, have seen that in Deepnight. You will find homes all around you, some being rented out, some already bought and owned. Outside of each house would be a family flag, and permissions would be given for each of those doors regarding who can enter and who cannot. You look around and decide to leave to the right, to find a fountain bubbling ahead of you. There are denzins in each room that you would pass by, some of them peddling wares (those wares could be sold by interested players who want to roleplay that, or denzins that hold their wares with them) At one end of this city, you will find a tavern. A bartender greets everyone that walks in cheerfully, offers you a drink. There are tables in each of the rooms, and a staircase going up and down. If you go down, you will find the kitchen, where a cook will offer you food he is 'working on'. If you go up, you will find a brothel (heard that one exists, would like to see if the owner of that would like to move it to the aethercity) offering to both clientelle. You pass by the brother and find that there are extra rooms available. If you wish to borrow a room, you would need to deposit a set amount of money to a standing guard, who will give you the keys to one of the available rooms. egh sorry about the double post but the thing I was cooking got burnt...
But lets say this is a floating ship. So that would be the additional cost to turn it into one, and on the lower levels you'd have turrets aiming outwards. Was thinking that for docking ports, why not have ramheads? Have those locations where ships can conjoin with the 'mothership' and people can get off and on and trade wares and what not?
Then for the neutrality, all organizations can enter, but some organizations could be more privileged than others. Discounts, people treat you better than spit in your way. But there would be a class system even there. For example, if you break the rules, you can be enemied to the city, OR you can do some task to help make the city better. A community service type of thing. Pick up trash, hunt slivvens, upkeep the paintings and statues. You'd already have people doing this, but they would be paid and the offender wouldn't. Then remedial classes, basically brainwash to have you not respect your fellow citizen more, but pretend like you do.
And finally on the lowest level, you would have some kind of beast that is aggressive to everything, respawns every once in a while, and occasionally pops up onto the main floors and wreaks havoc. It would go through each floor, and you would hear something like:
And see if aetherspace pirates. Player or denzin could occasionally raid the ship, causing massive conflict, and everywhere the doors are shut.
So yeah, that's what I want to do. So I was thinking of deepnight, but taking it up a notch. Have everything that it has, but a bit better. And there would be holidays in the city. That is something many cities seem to lack. A holiday for some reason, where free food is given for that day, a day of arena matches would be played out, with prizes for the best circle group. And then there would be at the top of the city my house - for my wife and kids, and everyone would have a job to play out.
So floors going downwards
So yeah, first floor, you saw the description: Homes, tavern, shrines, brothel
Second floor would be filled with shops, beggars, a small bar here and there, cheaper one room homes that would be given to the workers
Third floor would be the trades, you'd have the pentacle, forgers room and such
Fourth floor would have vermin running about the place, sewage, slivvens?
Fifth floor would have the turrents and such.
And then at the entrance if you have permission you'd find a command chair, and empath next to them, and surrounding them like an upwards bowl energy collectors. And then the rest of the ship's unknown treasures and monsters. Maybe would even take a portion of the gold from aetherhunts and litter then in the basement floor, so over time this wealth amasses for the idiots to try and kill the beast. Or the brave, i might add.

So yeah, first floor, you saw the description: Homes, tavern, shrines, brothel
Second floor would be filled with shops, beggars, a small bar here and there, cheaper one room homes that would be given to the workers
Third floor would be the trades, you'd have the pentacle, forgers room and such
Fourth floor would have vermin running about the place, sewage, slivvens?
Fifth floor would have the turrents and such.
And then at the entrance if you have permission you'd find a command chair, and empath next to them, and surrounding them like an upwards bowl energy collectors. And then the rest of the ship's unknown treasures and monsters. Maybe would even take a portion of the gold from aetherhunts and litter then in the basement floor, so over time this wealth amasses for the idiots to try and kill the beast. Or the brave, i might add.
But lets say this is a floating ship. So that would be the additional cost to turn it into one, and on the lower levels you'd have turrets aiming outwards. Was thinking that for docking ports, why not have ramheads? Have those locations where ships can conjoin with the 'mothership' and people can get off and on and trade wares and what not?
Then for the neutrality, all organizations can enter, but some organizations could be more privileged than others. Discounts, people treat you better than spit in your way. But there would be a class system even there. For example, if you break the rules, you can be enemied to the city, OR you can do some task to help make the city better. A community service type of thing. Pick up trash, hunt slivvens, upkeep the paintings and statues. You'd already have people doing this, but they would be paid and the offender wouldn't. Then remedial classes, basically brainwash to have you not respect your fellow citizen more, but pretend like you do.
And finally on the lowest level, you would have some kind of beast that is aggressive to everything, respawns every once in a while, and occasionally pops up onto the main floors and wreaks havoc. It would go through each floor, and you would hear something like:
And see if aetherspace pirates. Player or denzin could occasionally raid the ship, causing massive conflict, and everywhere the doors are shut.
So yeah, that's what I want to do. So I was thinking of deepnight, but taking it up a notch. Have everything that it has, but a bit better. And there would be holidays in the city. That is something many cities seem to lack. A holiday for some reason, where free food is given for that day, a day of arena matches would be played out, with prizes for the best circle group. And then there would be at the top of the city my house - for my wife and kids, and everyone would have a job to play out.

Alright, I understand your idea, and I wholeheartedly would love to see something like this in some form, but I had to laugh as I read it all. But I don't think it would be possible to have slivven constrained to certain parts, and it's going to be a very slow ship, albeit with good hull strength. And you'd have to find somewhere to get power, and it would cost so much money you'd have to charge a lot to make up for the loss. But if you can make it work, I'd probably buy a place on it.

heh, is it possible to create vortexes from one point to another? I mean, imagine, you are jumping into a vortex, and the ship tips over slowly, with the inhabitants screaming as they fall over, the people in the brothels suddenly finding that the bed is on top of them, not they are on top of the beds (like in soviet russia, you do not sleep on the bed, the bed sleeps on you.. har har..) and then suddenly it jumps into close of the desired location, and you'd have the armada's come out and form a protective sphere around the ship, little 1 turret ships flying around and shooting outwards in teams of three.
I mean, I've been here for what, 5 years now? And I do not regret it. Probably would be here for around 10, 15, 20 more. This thing can be built over a large enough time. And then to make matters faster, people could buy spots in advance, to help speed up the process. And I don't know.
But after this is all built, would definitely build something of an attack aethership, with docks if possible inside holding space for 4 - 5 smaller fighter ships to go out and terrorize the world. And that would be the evil character in this story, and have these two massive ships flying around and sometimes fighting against each other. See if a God or Goddess would like to run such a thing, and watch as they vent off their steam from their days at work.
But yeah, the antagonist air ship is a dream, that would most likely remain a dream. Though it would be cool to see Lady Terentia in a fit of rage slam her ship into her orderlings, and then divine fire anyone who complains. Egh, I'll daydream that.
