So, my basic "problem" is that I have a media server on one network (at home), but I'm spending an extended period of time at my parents, and I don't feel like lugging my computer over to them. Anyone know of a nice way to make my media server accessible via my parents network? I've got complete access to routers and such, so any ports can be opened.
If it's interesting, the media server at home is PMS (PS3 Media Server). Both networks are of the 192.168.x.x-variety. I've not used VPN at all; is that something that can be used to make it happen?

I don't have a PS3 myself, but I've heard there are tunneling programs available to do things like this for you. Try searching for that, maybe.

Tried googling a bit for a solution before I made the post, but nothing good came up... Ah well.

Not everyone knows how to set up tunnels for their connections, so I thought it worth mentioning, at least. You could try a VPN, but that's probably a little more complicated. Or, you could put all your media on an external HDD, like me.

Yeah, been thinking about that... but running around with 2TB of data makes me antsy. Plus, I don't get access to all the new goodies my computer records for me while I'm gone. Not the end of the world though!
