Has anyone here experienced Sleep Apena before? I think I just had it.

Sleep apnea, and I know a few people who experience it. They use a device called a CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) machine to ensure good breathing and better rest at night. If you think you have the condition, go to the doctor. They can do a sleep study on you to test for it.

Standalone occurrences can happen, but if it keeps happening get a sleep study done. Poor sleep has so many bad effects on a person both mentally and physically, not to mention shortens your life >_>

I've never experienced it, though my dad suffers from restless legs. I used to sleep talk a lot, but I've grown out of that. Have experienced sleep terrors a few times, but always as standalone occurrences.

Gah, restless legs is the bane of my existence. And I think I have some other nonspecific sleep evil thing that I keep intending to get tested. sad.gif

Lusternia is in British English. Apnoea!

You may have had an episode of it, but if it happens chronically you need to be tested for a sleep study. If you have consistent apnea you may need to get a CPAP machine.

I've used CPAP since 2007. You get used to it. It help my fatigue I was getting over time.

The one thing I refused to consider is restless leg syndrome which a neurologist was worried about. The problem with the medication is that it actually says it can cause compulsive behavior like sex-addition, cross-dressing and gambling.

Can != will. You can always start using it and find out. Meds my dad are on work just fine, he only had to have the starter dose lowered after a while because he'd feel drowsy all day.

Just start shaving your legs, you never know how you'd look in a dress.

The reason why I ask is because I woke up last night choking. I couldn't breathe for at least 15 seconds and apparently I was unable to hear my mom next door. After I was done choking gasping for air I tried checking my pulse. I don't think my heart was beating fast but I was certainly dizzy from not being able to breathe and when I tried talking to my mom the second I noticed her my speech was so horrible ( I sounded like I was drunk). I tried walking and my mobility was bad as well, I don't even think to this morning that I had sleep apena last night. It seemed similar to it but I had felt like I was pumped with lots of Fluids and was about to drown. Honestly I don't think I would be here writing this now if I hadn't woken up and responded to the attack on my stomach which is weird because if I was choking my lungs was affected too. I do get acid-reflux regularly from drinking lots of pop which might be one of the factors, I think I may have lost some amount of oxygen as well which is why my motor skills where bad when I tried to talk or move. I recently took a class on medical terminology and these kinds of things in intrigue me and it's kinda funny actually I was trying to figure out what exactly happened and I'm still not 100 percent sure. ( I am fine now physically wise but any longer choking I think id of ended up dead last night). I also recall having a period of several weird dreams , not sure if you would call them night mares but they came out really creepy like.
