Anyone play?

I had to stop because I was neglecting my real life. If you have some self control though, it's super fun!

I tried. Oh gods how I tried. I can't even begin to understand it. sad.gif

Working on the swimming pool and magma drop bridge entrance at the moment.

I once insta-killed a fortress right off the back when I found out that the surface temperature of the planet was too high to support liquid water. It is fun when an ASCII game slows down your computer because it is trying to calculate the motion of a large lake that is now a large free floating death cloud.

Suffice to say, I dabble in it...

I don't play as heavily as I used to, but I do lurk in the official #bay12games IRC on NewNet.

I tried to, but it likes to crash. sad.gif

Ok, I need to try this game now. suspicious.gif

I just...can barely understand what I'm looking at. It's like trying to learn a foreign language. I keep trying, but...then fustration sets in, I come here, paint morose paintings, and try again. Mrrr.

I make my forts as 'villages' in the caves underground instead.

Suffice to say, fighting off olms as they jump on the fishing pier by the underground lake or tribes of trogdolytes shooting at our walls from the cliffs is a damn fun time.

I CHANGED MY MIND. Screw this game. After spending a good hour poking at it like a mildly-interested caveman, the mildly-enraged caveman shone through and quit the game. I learned nothing that entire time. Not worth it!! blackeye.gif

The Wiki helps. Read it. Learn it. Love it.

Also, read the Saga of Boatmurdered. It's based on a Succession Game from an old version of the game, but it still gives a good idea of what should be done to establish a happy, healthy fortress.

Also, I recommend you download a tileset of some sort. I can't stand playing with just ASCII graphics, ironic as that may be. Once you have graphical representations for things, it gets a bit easier.

I used to love DF, but the most recent update required too much adjustment so I haven't bothered.

Rika2010-11-02 10:38:33
This is actually pretty fun.

Ohmygosh stop directing me back to it. Like half a year ago it was like TVTropes for the non-internet-connected mind.
