Is it possible/effective? If so, where/what do you recommend to hunt? Just wondering because I'm thinking of getting my own ship again, if it's worth it in the upper 80's levels and whatnot.

It's not possible unless you have an really big ship and you're only hunting like gorgogs or pryinnes or some other tiny thing. And it would be horrible exp

So solo is pretty much impossible? For it to be worth a decent amount of experience?

Yeah... Having to take the role of both pilot (to outrun the beasts), empath (to heal the damage they will, inevitably, cause) and gunner (to actually kill them) would be impossible, unless it had a massive hull-size (I'd guess in the 6000-range, or probably more). It'd be expensive as heck (the biggest ship I've seen, deepnight, has about 5800 hull, if I remember correctly). Given that after each kill you'd have to unlock from the turret, go to the grid, lock in, heal the ship, go to the collector, siphon another beast and then unlock and head back to the turret to, again, slowly kill the beast would make it incredibly inefficient. A full compliment of crew is faster than a normal bash, sure, but that's five (at least, probably seven or more) people working in tandem. And no, that doesn't mean you get seven times the experience if you were to do it alone.

Aetherspace hunting is just something meant for groups.

It is essentially impossible, and even if you could somehow manage to hunt dragons solo, I imagine it would probably still be pretty slow experience with only 1 gunner.

It used to be possible, back in the days of hunting dragons beyond walls, but that was removed.

The entire point of aetherspace bashing is that it's a group activity

It is, however, possible to farm gold by setting up some ruptures, powering up a forcefield and then finding monsters to lead over them. But this doesn't generate any exp.
