Hey guys, I'm a long time dormant Achaea veteran... dabbled a bit a MKO, and I tried Lusternia ages ago, but haven't played any MUD for some time now.

I've been lurking several of IRE's forums, and been trying to determine which game I'll try giving a go with. Lusternia seems awesome to say the least, and several classes have really caught my eye (particularly Mage classes — Demesnes seem very cool, and I like the fact that each of the Mage classes have little unique set ups to pull off cool-sounding kills, i.e. Cloud coils, I think? and degrees of burns).

Anyways, I was wondering how difficult it is to get into combat in Lusty. Now I realize in most cases all IRE games really require several trans'd skills to be worth anything, and I hear Aetolia is trying to ease newbs transition into combat with some new way of handling afflictions and detection of affliction lines, but how's this game fare in relation to Achaea or Aetolia?

Any input would be appreciated... also any break down of mage classes (or any others for that matter!) would be great!

We are the Dragonball Z of the IRE MUDs. Take that how you will.

We already have this, it's called firstaid.

The mage-spec instakills are mostly pretty crappy. Cloudcoils and burns are garbage and chasm and preserve are only good in groups. Most mages kill through the insta in their psionic specialization.
