Guildless

Ok idea for guildless people. I had a thought that I was pondering about for a while now and decided that I needed to say something about it. I thought this would be the best way for Lusternia. I want there to be a way for guildless people to take on a new archtype, this would only to apply to those still part of that city or commune.I would say that there should be a consideration period of about 24 hours when joining a new archtype. The way to do it would be through a special denizin that would grant access to the archtypes. This is in no way to offer incentives to offer people to become a rogue, this just helps those who do not have a current guild who would like to take on a different archtype without having to join the current guild if problems arise. Not having a guild is a hinderance and this would allow some flexability for those wanting to swtich.

Personally, I say let the guilds decide who should be allowed to learn their skills. Some guilds have perfectly valid RP reasons why they wouldn't allow a guildless person learn their skills, after all. Also (and I must admit I'm very fuzzy on this particular detail), don't you automatically forget the skill if you left the guild while still a novice or below GR3 or some such? Wouldn't this change make that functionality go away? Not to mention it would make people join a city, learn the skills of the archetype and then quit the city again, making it far easier to become a rogue with guild skills.

You don't lose skills automaticly on leaving a guild, I think a large part of that is because you lose lessons and the admins don't want that to be forceable (eg kicking people out so they lose skills before another can come undo it)

That being said I do not like the idea. Many skills in lusternia are RP linked to a guild and it would make no sense to have it available for learning outside it.

Being guildless is supposed to be a big hindrance, the entire game is based around the guild system and learning your skills from them. I'm not exactly sure what you are asking for, a denizen that can, for instance, make me a mage and learn any mage skills I want?

This is one step closer to Achaea's autoclass thing...

I remember Achaea.

Do not want.

I could see being allowed to skillflex while rogue, but not learning any guild :censor:.
Dysolis2011-06-07 22:25:08
How many times have people tried to get others to forget their skills when being rogue? That isn't a healthy life style being harassed over and over.
Ssaliss2011-06-07 22:26:43
Everything has consequences. If you leave a guild, don't be surprised if they want you to forget guild skills. Simple logic, really.

And the administration has made it perfectly clear that Lusternia is focused on organizations, meaning that rogues are, by their very nature, discouraged.

What alt are you reading the logs from?

Naughty boy, you're not supposed to ask such questions. No trying to out alts on the forums!
Dysolis2011-06-07 23:27:39
Wrong thread Casilu, either post about the idea or not at all.

You're avoiding the question.

Edit: And I am posting about the idea, this would be a very radical change for the game... breaking off from the power system, skill specs, and all the other associated guild trappings. There has to be some sort of motivation for requesting a change of this scale. To me, understanding why a person made such a request is important to understanding the suggestion.

Anatacia.

A) It's a horrible idea, as most people here agree with, and
B) What does it matter who the alt is?
Dysolis2011-06-07 23:32:22
Great that's valid input.
Ssaliss2011-06-07 23:38:06
And you asking who the alt is _is_ valid input? tongue.gif I think this thread is about to slide down a nasty slope soon...
Dysolis2011-06-07 23:47:15
Because everyone else has a pretty aggressive temper like mine, can't we get along? tongue.gif
Diamondais2011-06-07 23:50:05
Hardly.

I think this idea would detract too much from a key aspect of the game, rogues are supposed to be held back/second class in the grand scheme of things because they don't have a connection to a nexus or the guild attachment. If you go rogue and remain so, it's a personal choice and one you live with or move to another org if you can't cope.
