Hey dudes and ladies. Otakon's like 20 minutes from me, so I go every year to hang out with friends from my somewhat dubious internet past and have a crazy ol' time. I was wondering if any of you folks will be attending as well? Maybe I could say hi to you, and make you feel generally uncomfortable since that seems to be what I do to people. Mostly I'll be with a group of folks who are much louder and outgoing than I am, wandering around and not doing much of anything.
I'd love to, but I can't afford it this year.

Last time I was at Otakon I collared a man I only knew from the internet, threw him to the sidewalk, and forced him to make out with me for half an hour in the middle of Baltimore.

I don't even particularly like much anime.
I seriously only go to hang out with people. Though, that doesn't quite help in the way of funds, and I imagine people who are less inept at socialization than I am don't feel as justified paying what I jokingly refer to as the "air conditioned building fee" in exchange for a weekend of actual interactions with other people. The only new anime I've watched in the last half a decade is Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood and Hellsing. Yes, they're new to me, shush. 
The jump in ticket prices for the con is a real downer for me. Last time I honestly just kind of partied in the hotel room and swung by the con center for a few hours. It wasn't worth it, but it feels really lame to kick in for hotel but not a pass to the con.

Right. Hotels. I always forget that aspect.
Since I live so close to the convention center, I just go back and forth from home every day. Only having to pay the con badge fee (which I agree has gotten pretty ridiculous since the year I started going) makes the convention considerably more affordable for me!But aww. No one is going to be there? Sadness. Oh well, you're spared the displeasure of my company this time.

's all good, I dropped out of the scene before it was taken over by what it's known for today. I remember back when it was just smart people pretending to be stupid, horrible people. Not actual stupid, horrible people who think they're smart.
Ok, I still go on some boards. But not the more iconic ones. Relatively slow, worksafe* boards.
*this intention rarely works out in practice, but the thought's there.
