Person A and B.
Person A sells at one price. Person B buys Person A's stock, and sells it at a new price. Person B's new stock sells, and a profit is made. Person A and Person B should be happy, because the asking price of Person A and Person B has been met.

BUT!!

In Lusternia, Person A sells at one price. Person B buys Person A's stock, at Person A's asking price, and sells it higher. Person B is occasionally snubbed and blocked from buying at Person A(s) shop.

The result is a simple word: Retardation.

Xenthos:

Alternatively:
Lusternia is a smaller world with a much smaller economy.

People need certain necessities to function.

If person B is intentionally driving up the price by buying out everything at its normal price and reselling it at a higher one, people will gripe, because not only is it really easy to see it being done (unlike the real world where it is not so much), it is not an important part of doing business (again, unlike the real world where someone might focus on production and rely on resellers to move the product).

People may be forced to buy at a higher price, but that does not mean that they need to be happy about it. I remember gasoline up over $4 a gallon. There sure was a lot of unhappiness and griping about that, and no real target for everyone to focus on.

The real world also has no 'snub' feature.

Falcon:

Yeah, but what kind of ass would buy out all of the stock in every shop just to maintain a monopoly? Egh, northeast was hit by the electricity cuts. Lebanon has the same though, timed electricity cuts every day, due to mismanagement of power and such, and a slow internet, so as far as incomes would go in Lusty, buying and reselling goods is the best way to make money without the constant fear of dying or losing in an influence battle. So people would gripe, yeah, but there are always alternatives.. just maybe please don't take it out on someone who has a very limited way to make money, or circle up, and sticks out of villages during revolts on the fear of lagging out, or can't hunt because that level 3 sip bonus turns into a lvl 1 sip bonus with the lag that goes on... /endrave

I think a good half or so of the playerbase, if they had the money to pull it off.
Sakr2011-11-03 15:48:10
Xenthos:

How about making useful goods to make money instead of driving up prices for no reason except one individual's personal profit?

Falcon:

Person 1A: You bought something from my shop, but resold it
Person B: No, I am wearing it
Person 1A: I don't care, blocked

Person 2A: You bought something from my shop, but it's stocked in yours now. (snub ban)

Person 3A: Your're the reason everything is so expensive nowdays (credits wise)
Person B: No, I didn't do anything to the (credit market) for the past few real months
Person 3A: So you admit to playing the market before?
Person B: Yes I admit.
Person 3A: So you are part of the problem (ban)
...
Person 4A: Why is your price for esteem so high?
Person B: To match the rising credit prices, trying to make esteem more expensive in the basin for that, with the gold drops increasing and all that.
Person 4A: Can you drop the prices for me?
Person B: No.
Person A: Snub/ban
....

List continues to Person 10A.

Sorry, but bite me and grow the :censor: up. Really. I don't want to hear that I was divorced because of my business, I don't want to hear the reason I'm alone is that I'm a despicable being. Because really anyone who said that or will say that can go :censor: themselves. Or lay the blame finger on me, bite me.
Sakr2011-11-03 15:48:43

I was responsible (at least, I like to think so) for the drop in esteem prices a year ago (as low as less than 1,000 gold per 100% esteem), and people were grumbling about losing their market :( Now they're rising and people are still not happy. Make up your minds D:

Kialkarkea:

People want to be able to just wander over to a shrine and dump a whole lotta esteem in for free favours and karma. Other people want to be able to make lots of money selling esteem. Different people that are angry!

Xenthos:

If that many people are upset with you based on your business practices... maybe you need to realize that it is in fact you, not them, who should consider change.

Falcon:

The most common response I've heard is "I'm fed up." or "I'll stop being nice" Because in the process of adding more competition, some people don't like that. So, I don't think that I should change, not exactly doing anything wrong here, not being dishonest in my dealings. I put forth a price, and I let people know what this or that item will be used for when I buy it from them directly. If I buy stock goods I need from a shop, such as gems and such, I do that, take the gems or goods I have to the trades person to craft, and then receive the good and put it in the shop.

I don't do what Rathan was talking about, I don't lie when it comes to my dealings, and I don't ignore other people when it comes to pricings. So as a response to that, what should I change? Should I take advantage of the current system, bankrupt everything, buy out all of the commodity items and force people to either buy at high commodity prices and then high priced goods versus my own low priced goods? That can be done.

Or should I claim a monopoly over something, lets say Sparkleberry like what happened before with who was it killing everyone on astral who tried to take his sparkles and maintaining a monopoly in a group. Or should I purposely take down the competition with lets say jewelry like some notables have done in the past? Or should I create false promises and invite more people to take a certain trade, and undervalue it, buy the bulk goods at the undervalued price and resell them when people realize it's better to change trades? Yeah, um no.

If there are things that people should complain about, it's those things. Not honest work.

Falcon:

I'm not monopolizing anything. And I'm not artificially inflating prices of goods for my own benefit. Only thing I inflated was esteem. The rest of the goods are at the same price of 4, 5 other shops I can see in the aetherplex. But even with esteem, I don't have control. It's my prices, if someone wants to buy the singular item that's inflated in the shop at what would have been 10k a needle. Then that's their prerogative. But that doesn't mean I'm expecting smiles. I'm just not expecting bs.

foolofsound:

Expect opposition to price-fixing or monopolies. Besides: do you really consider reselling at a higher price, rather than actually producing something, honest work?
Esteem != Credits, I'm not sure where you get off artificially increasing prices in order to make them so.

Falcon:

That's it.... The following is my wares. Now I am going to show you were in Nil each thing came from, and how it is honest.

And before that, Hi, I don't spend thousands of dollars on Lusternia. If I were to get somewhere, I need credits to be arti'd or achieve what I want. But if esteem jumps from prices between 5k to 16k between a given year, AND taking note that OH HI, GOLD DROPS INCREASED. But not for influencers. So yeah, I don't know where I get off to make esteem worth more to get credits.

(note: Rings are made by Vermilla. Tailoring goods are all made by Arkzrael. and you want to know the funny part? The artisan goods are made by me? But shhh, it's a secret. Dishonest work right?)

edit: to your edit FoolofSound. Bite me. This isn't a passive aggressive rant. This is being sick of this :censor:. And I didn't name any names of who did what. Person A, Person B. If you know, that's your deal.

(HERBS are bought and collected over a period of time. I put the things that don't fit in my rift here. I do that so that I can keep track of them, and if someone wants to buy them, feel free. It's fine. I don't want to hide all of the herbs in the basin. Nothing is gained from that, or being an ass about it. If I were to refill kegs, then I would need these herbs, so I can keep track from outside, or at the aetherplex so I can know, Oh hey, I need this or this for that keg. Or if not here, I can instruct someone to refill, and I'll give them the refund for the gold they spent as well payment for the refills.)

Be aware we do not allow "rant" threads on the forums - in several instances this thread and the posts therein more than cross the border between "venting" and generally offensive ranting.

I've gone ahead and locked this thread for that reason.
