PLEASE NOTE: This is simply a graphical representation of the bracket system. The actual pairings will be made at the beginning of the event.
Sidd2012-01-28 22:34:59
Is this the definite pairings?
Ixion2012-01-28 22:41:20
No, unless the pairings happened ex parte.
Nocht2012-01-28 22:58:53
It is not. I believe teams will be picked randomly again tomorrow to keep things as fair as possible.
Morbo2012-01-28 23:06:57
I just put teams in randomly so that it was easier to understand how it worked
Vadi2012-01-29 00:15:12
It's deceiving though and I'm sure there'll be people who think that what you put down is how it'll be.
Enyalida2012-01-29 00:36:32
Hopefully such people will be bothered to read down four posts to see that it isn't the case.

Said post was not there when people like me originally read this!

Not having been able to be around for the event, it seemed as if it was intended to portray exactly what was going to happen tomorrow. To the point that I sent Sojiro some 'supportive' messages.

I edited the original post to provide more clarity. I hope this puts everyone's mind at ease.

Basically it is double elimination?

This confused me a lot looking at this chart and the explanation as well; asking around, I am told that it is only double elimination for #3 and #4. #1 and #2 will be the winners from the previous round's winners when they go at it, then the losers from those two will fight the winners from today's losers to determine the three and four. Or something like that.

So basically if you do well enough to win your first two, you don't get any more chances, but if you lost one of your first two, you actually got a chance to still win the whole thing? Why not just do a double elimination?
Vadi2012-01-29 03:34:06
As I understand it - if you lose, you only get a chance at semifinals. Though if you win, then lose, then apparently you're out - doing worse than a lose/win team.
Unknown2012-01-29 03:38:02
Well, the guys who win two in a row are guaranteed credits regardless, that's what's nice about that.

But this is the result of changed rules right in the middle of the event.

Nah, looking at the chart if you win/lose then you just drop into the loser's bracket second round.

What seems unfair to me is that it is better to go both either L/W/W or W/L/W than W/W/L.
Xenthos2012-01-29 03:41:18
Well, it is more like double elimination.

Let's say we have 8 teams.

Round 1:
Team 1 beats team 5.
Team 2 beats team 6.
Team 3 beats team 7.
Team 4 beats team 8.

Team 1 beats team 3.
Team 2 beats team 4.
Team 5 beats team 7.
Team 6 beats team 8.

Team 7 and 8 are now out, because they lost both times.

Teams 1 and 2 are competing for first and second place, teams 3, 4, 5, and 6 are competing for third and fourth. Though one of these teams will probably lose twice and still manage to get fourth, so it's not quite double elimination...

My understanding is that W / W / L is place #2. Because everyone else will be 'out' of the running for first by then. Which is another place where it departs the double elimination scheme.
Unknown2012-01-29 23:23:19
... so Svorai-Nihta-Nicholo were second, rather than third?

We got a W/W/L no more chances.
Vadi2012-01-29 23:45:27
Can't tell if second or third because there was no final match between Malarious/Xena/Ethelon and Svorai/Nihta/Nicholo - I believe.
