Hi,

Feel free to suggest revisions to the races part here. Please take into account the feedback generated by the admin.

Estarra:

Races:
Estarra the Eternal says, "I'm not crazy about baselining all the races."

Estarra the Eternal says, "I do think there should be some races with high cons and some with low cons, and same with dex and everything else. I'm uncomfortable with the movement well lets just raise everyone's dex to 11."

You say, "So avoid baselining is the general idea?"

Estarra the Eternal says, "Yes."

On tae'dae:

Estarra the Eternal says, "Tae'dae are supposed to be slow, strong and wise, not sure the reason for the dexterity."

Estarra the Eternal says, "If balance penalty was lowered to 1, you thinkt there'd still be problems?"

Estarra the Eternal says, "They have a ton of bonuses."

You say, "If there are, I'm sure it will be brought up if you guys ever do races again."

You say, "So we need to get some field experience with new tae'dae first."

On Igasho:

Estarra the Eternal says, "Don't think they need the dex."

Estarra the Eternal says, "Don't understand lgoic of magic penalty."

On Mugwump:

*Same as merians

On Merian:

Estarra the Eternal says, "I don't get +1 con for merian and -1 con for merian lord."

Estarra the Eternal says, "I definitely don't like reducing the fire weakness."

(Iosai the Anomaly) says, "Makes base merian more tanky and leaves merian lord unaffected."

On Orclach:

Estarra the Eternal says, "I'd consider the +1 dex though."

RE: Orclach.

I am glad to see that we're hesitant to turn the race inside out here. I was not enthused at all about the proposed shuffling around of weakening both resists and penalties, and as someone who <3's her Orclach, I feel they are a workable race at demigod. The plus dex would be nice, though honestly I'd be for reducing the impact of dex on knight offense in general.

That said, it almost seems odd to give it to them, save for the chance of orclach monks. Dwarf and Taurian are both worse off already on that score, albiet with better mental attributes.

RE: Elemental malus squishies

Namely, Merian and Mugs. If Estarra isn't interested in lowering the malus, that's fine, so long as the underlying propensity to kaboom is considered.

RE: Tae'gasho

Any balance penalty, even a reduced one, will be noticed and felt, at least by knights. We're delicate little snowflakes like that. So even if the Tae penalty is lowered, if it is still in place, it will be doing its job as a balancing mechanism.

I know this isn't exactly race related but a possible solution. Karmic Blessings. Right now there are only blessings to help Intelligence, Consititution and Charisma, why not add an additional benefit to one of the blessings the gives a Dexterity increase, maybe to Nature? Anyways, just a thought.

Tae'dae and Igasho:
Reduce Balance malus to Lv1

Orclach:
+1 Dex

Merian and Mugwump:
+1 Con
-1 Con to Merian Lords

Totally happy with these as the final submission.

Hey, I could use that as an aslaran!

And Faeling TK mages can use Beauty and Knowledge. I would like to see Strength and Dexterity blessings open up, even if that is a buff to warriors. Particularly Dexterity, as it would be a large boon to low Dex warrior races, like Tae'dae.

War gives extra damage, remember. But hey, I'd be very happy to have other blessings to use other than life and death.

EDIT: Corrected.

Death gives extra damage, remember.

No, War does, but the point does stand that Mages can get both War and Knowledge.

Thanks for the correction.

However, note that war contributes twice over for knights and monks. The extra damage = extra wounds.

I'm not against adding those blessings, but as a monk, I'm tired of people yelling OP all the time and would rather not see something that's going to contribute to that perspective.
Malarious2012-02-17 17:09:32
Are you sure about that? Damage and wounds should be differentiated.

Ok now....

Ha.. haha.... ahahaahahahahahahahahahahah

Dexterity doing something for monks, you are funny.
Unknown2012-02-17 17:40:56
I have been told that the amount of damage influences amount of wounds, though not on a 1:1 ratio.

Are you sure Dex doesn't impact monks? ABs say it does...
Turnus2012-02-17 20:27:39
I can test if war blessing affects wounding later, I don't think it does but I've never actually tested. I'll post up here what I see.

Edit. Just tested, war blessing does NOT affect wounding for warriors. Only damage.
Malarious2012-02-18 16:43:20
Dexterity effects PvE but neither the divine nor testing says dexterity has any effect in PvP, though rank in kata affects PvP, but not PvE.

That's bizarre, but thanks for the info. All the more reasons to allow a Dex blessing.

I'm leaning towards something like fools' suggestion here. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

I understand we're fiddling with dex now, so might need to take that into account.
Naia2012-02-19 10:04:16
Strength blessing please. And strength/intellect food, while we're at it.

Raw meat and fish cakes?

Doesn't a pile of spinach give you muscles? :)

Here is a rough outline of the second draft, discuss and comment.

Add other suggestions to other races too if you want, to encourage discussion.

-------------------------------

Races:

Tae'dae:
-2 balance penalty, total balance penalty = lvl 1

Igasho:
-1 balance penalty, total balance penalty = lvl 1

Mugwump:
+1 con, total = 11

Merian:
+1 con, total = 11
-1 con merian lord spec, total = 15

Orclach:
+1 dex, total = 14
