Curios in Shops

I think it would be amazing and really help out -alot- of us if we could sell curios in our shops? This would give players the advantage of:

a. Gaining gold (or credits if they are able to sell them for credits also?) from selling their curios without them having to constantly typing on Market now and then about curios they have for sale or ADs they have made.

b. Allowing players to browse through stores (especially aetherplex) for certain pieces they require to complete their beloved curios rather than having to wait around saying on market every 5-10 mins what piece they need, hoping someone new has come online that has it.

This would really make searching for curios -much- more easier for many of us. Also if someone wishes to trade in general, they could always keep the curios with them and ask on market for trades.

Please and Thank you. :)

You'd have to introduce a curio-tapping command though (like kegtap, which stops the keg from resetting to you for a very long time) or it'd just vanish before too long. I certainly wouldn't mind it though.

My concern would be that people who are buying curios to rub and spin would have a much easier time buying out shops stocking curios than they do tracking down people willing to sell to people who aren't buying to collect. So this might in fact make it even harder to find that missing piece.

Ads seem to be fairly successful. At least, I know I checked through them periodically to find people who wanted to buy the curio pieces I have.

Ah yes, I hadnt thought of that. That is a very good point. I could easily see people buying out shops from their curios for spins.

Ah well, is a shame :(

Edit: See below post for great solution to the mentioned issue.

But curios don't 100% turn into coins - they do have the chance of turning into gold.

If people wanted to do this (buy curios for the purpose of rubbing them), they could just contact people over market and buy there - there's no difference, it's just a little more accessible in a shop.

Curios that are priced properly, or even priced ridiculously (999,999gp, for example), will deter these kinds of people. At least if curios were placed in shops, those who are looking for that special piece will know who to contact! (msg omgpersonhaspiece Hey! I noticed you had a sparkling branch curio in your shop (number 328942) priced at 999,999gp. Were you willing to trade for this? Thanks!)

An option available that people don't use is passwords to purchase from shops. Give the password to a few curio buyers who are looking to complete sets, then have them spread the word themselves. Change the password every day or every other day, and send out a new password.

I think that people who would decide to sell them in shops wont actually care who buys them.

I like this idea for two reason,

1) It would make it a lot easier to find pieces that people are trying to collect without having to be online at every waking minute to catch all time zones.

2) There are a lot of curio pieces now that just seem like they are impossible to get rid of. I have 90 curio bits I could not get rid of and they were cluttering my pack. Eventually, I did end up rubbing them and it hurt me a little on the inside. So, selling them in shops would at the bare minimum get them out of my pack so I don't rub them out of frustration.

Ah that is a great point! Other than just selling their curios in shops, people could also use the shop to display what curios they are willing to sell or trade to others. Even to those that still wish to just sell their curios to whomever, they could put them at reasonable prices (rather than the 999,999 gp). Yes I think the idea of Curios in shops is back on! :D

Due to the rarity, i did not rub any new curio pieces...ever. I traded them all off. I only rubbed old curio pieces that nobody seemed to need, and that was after checking all the ADs I could bear to read through.

:D

Has there been any other thoughts on this thread in any other threads. This is a really good idea but it seems it has dropped off....
