I can't be certain - and I'm certainly not well-versed in designing - but I feel like I have seen glass in crafted goods, specifically jewelry.

easy enough to substitute gems for glass?

I'd advise against using the term "tryptych" explicitly, simply because it's such an esoteric term. You could try using "triple-paneled" or "tri-panel" instead as a substitute.

As for lampworking... I personally try to use gems commodities for crystal as a substitute for glass, as I've seen others done, just to avoid complications (though as has been mentioned, I think I've seen glass in jewelry before as well). If your aim is to incorporate different colours into the glass, however, I can see why you'd want to use it... I'll need to check a few references in-game and don't have access right now, but I'll post an edit once I'm sure about it.

I've seen much more obscure words than triptych used in designs, especially custom pieces. I think you'll be fine there. As for the beads, I think you can get away with just describing what they look like, and not mentioning 'lampwork' at all. The jeweler who makes this won't be using a lamp in any case, we melt and mold gems with the power of our minds!

i tend to use diamond for glass, since it's far cheaper than gem comms. Sometimes you have to jump through some hoops, though, to get that to work. In one design I simply mentioned windows in a cabinet, and threw diamonds in the design, instead of explicitly saying it was glass.

Gems are used for glass, sand won't cut it. And I thought Magnagora had gaslight lamps or something.

Iron.

Iron is used for almost every metal that isn't explicitly a commodity. Bronze, Tin, Brass, etc. The exception is silver alloys like pewter, which use, you guessed it, silver.

So many potentially wonderful uses for nuclear transmutation, and we're stuck using it for making trinkets. Time to have Hallifax develop start creating stockpiles of plutonium, I think.
