I posted this in the simple ideas thread, but I wanted to give it a bit more visibility / delve into it further:
The idea is that you can take a completed curio set, and for a very large pile of gold (say between 500,000 to 1,000,000 gold), trade it in for a specific other curio set; or for 100,000 gold, you can trade it in for a random other completed curio.
This accomplishes a few things.
1) It creates a large gold sink.
2) It allows players to "trade backwards"; people are focusing on buying the new curio collections, and not the old ones. A trade system like this will allow you to buy packages and trade with people, and then spend a large amount of your stored gold to "swap".
- That means that you can go backwards and get the asp, for example, by using up your stockpiles of gold.
It encourages trading; even if you're not trading for a set that you want, you're trading to complete a set that you can trade for one you do want. It means that even the less-desired sets are more sought-after and those stuck with piles of those pieces have something that others will want to trade for.
If you don't have the gold for a tradein, you'll still be building your sets as per normal, it just provides an alternative in order to dump tons of gold out of the game.

A *whole* curio on top of the 500k price for one specific piece? Sorry, I like to bash gold up and all, but I don't think that's feasible. If you're looking for 10 different pieces, you're looking at exchanging 10 whole curios and 5mil.
I can see a piece for a piece and and a gold fee, maybe, but not a whole curio.
Edit: Oh wait, it's a whole set for a whole set. The equivalent then is fine. Silly me.

Yes, a whole curio for a whole curio (with a hefty fee tacked on).

Don't think TPTB will go for it but I like the idea.

As a further note, right now I am done trading-- I'm just going to hold my pieces until the next curio release and try to do some trading then. However, if I could keep building up for a complete set to trade in, I'd be doing so (and helping others complete their curios to boot)!

I love this idea!! Especially because No one knows what these completed set's powers will be and I guarantee you that at least half the people are going to want a different set by the end of this! And after the first 5 minutes, trading and trying to find the crap you need is exhausting and annoying.
