Gah! What the heck is this!? Leave the necromancy to the Magnagorans, Laith!
EDIT: I think you win the award for longest and worst necro on these boards ever, btw. Sheesh. Second worse one we had was only June last year...

I don't know, I like necroing better then starting a new thread, if the issues are still relivant. If it's an IC thing and it's changed it's a differant matter though.

Exactly.
I think people are just babied by the Lusternia forum. In another forum this wouldn't be an issue. For the small amount of traffic we received in comparison to other forums I'd think it'd be okay for "bumps" or "necros," but maybe Shiri and Shorlen are just joking.
But to be on topic.. Lusternia hasn't devoured my soul. Actually, I'm more of a troll these days. I wonder if Richter will ever ask for his clan.
Shorlen2006-02-17 07:09:05
People should at least cast rituals when raising threads from the dead. Begin the post with something like...
To you, Hastur, I offer my blood and the bonds of my soul - grant me this power! With darkness without and darkness within, in the light of the blood red moon, I SUMMON THEE! Like a zombie baby from hell, RISE FROM THE DEAD, oh thread of days gone by!
RISE!

Sheesh, of course we're (mostly )kidding.

Estarra, have you considered only opening lusternia on holidays or stuff like that?
You guys worry me a lot. You shouldn't be happy and joke about playing a game instead of doing your work, your studies, or trying to get a future.
Don't know, maybe I've grown old and responsable. The game is good, but your life should come first...

(deadened zombie voice)
There is no real world, there is only Lusternia.

I um.. agree with you, actually. Even though I still casually play one IRE game, I still make time for my four classes since I've set some goals for myself and so on.
Of course IRE wouldn't make money if their games weren't addictive, but where's the self-control??
Just teasing (Kinda). I think it's just that most of the players still live at home, and some can spend their money here without their parents going "Didn't you just get paid??" or something.
It isn't as bad as the FFOnline addicts though, but then again you can't camp certain mobiles that drop items worth millions of gold here. I wonder what would happen if they introduced some boss creatures like that in IRE games..
Iridiel2006-02-17 11:19:40
I am not referring to people putting money in a game (I myself drop quite a bit of money on entertainment) but more to the "I have given up school, stop doing homework, been late at work, just due to lusternia being fun!"
I mean, once an activity becomes 75% of your wake time I think it's just not... healthy?
I am sure IRE is happy with people who play less but are able to pay their bills or pass their tests and keep playing, instead of having soembody hammering the computer into pieces.

NO, no no no no no no no no no no no no!
I've been in muds with "smobs" before, they wreck everything, everything revolves around killing the smob that drops the thing you want, and it would completely wreak the lusternia economy.
Iridiel2006-02-17 11:33:47
And Nasrim would solo it and cause yet another NERFNERFNERF thread.

But but he is on the forums, he must be famours and nerfeable!!
Make his kicks fail once every 2 tries for balance!

I'm not against people putting money into IRE either, nor do I see anything wrong with the casual entertainment spender, but I've known people in the past who'd place money irresponsibly into things like this knowing they have bills or other things that take precedence. It isn't any fault of IRE (Or Blizzard, or Square-Enix, or Sony) for their actions so I'm just pounding more of the lack of self-control thing again (Like you said about school, homework, etc).
It's kind of funny you mention that though. Each and every time before you log into Final Fantasy 11 there's a disclaimer that says something about not neglecting job, family, or friends. I wish I had it on hand to show everyone (I don't play any longer).
Richter2006-02-17 23:53:12
Bills > Lusternia
I don't understand how people don't realize that.

In Lusternia, however, mobs (non-quest mobs) drop nothing but gold.
I think the idea of "boss creatures" would be feasible if only one person could fight them at a time and if they made sense in terms of RP.
E.g. there could be a random minor Soulless which occasionally finds its way from the Void to Astral, and when linking a node there's a tiny chance of summoning it. Once summoned it could transport you to a room entitled something like "Aether bubble over the Void", and if you beat it, it gives substantial xp, good gold and maybe even an honours line, if it's sufficiently tough. (Something like "S/He has vanquished the foul Soulless,
Iridiel2006-02-18 13:20:49
And after 300 people had the honors line you really would think that soulless is an idiot for insisting in coming Also, people would bash like mad the node in the hopes the monster spawned.
We don't want "chinese farmers" in Lusternia!!

What chinese players? China banned IRE games, remember? Hence the nerfing of rice making skills by Sarapis. I'm still pissed over it - I want pre-nerf rice making skills
Iridiel2006-02-18 16:12:23
Didn't remember that! I am waiting for Amnesty International to come against Lusternia for racism and violence
They did it with Starcraft.
