Being a Master Viscanti has a lot of perks but that Level 2 Slower Elixer recovery REALLY saps your funds...so I run into the problem of having to keep up with gold so that I can pay Bob since NO ONE EVER refills my health or mana vials. As for the best guilds.....it's hard to say, I think that they are all pretty much balanced....although when a warrior archetype can come in, raze my shield, and hit me twice in two rounds of eq and drop me from 1600+ hp to dead....that's a bit nuts no?
Thorgal2004-10-27 14:09:18
Not really, it's quite realistic to die fast when someone is slashing huge swords into your head.
Bau2004-10-27 14:14:34
A lot of people seem to have a problem understanding that realism does factor into IRE games. All the whining about bowmanship in Imperian, about how it is used from out of the room etc... same deal, it's realistic and makes perfect sense. I know I'd be worried if someone swung one sword at me, let alone two.
Unknown2004-10-27 14:44:34
Okay! So it's realistic to have sword swinging at my head....but if I hit you with a pure beam of light while my thrall is ripping you to shreds, would you really be in any shape to swing swords at my head in the first place? We can play "in real life" all day long but in real life, 90% of what is in Lusternia wouldn't exist.....that's why we play it.
Bau2004-10-27 14:53:42
If your thrall does not afflict and restrain physical ability, I can understand strenuously well-trained knights not flinching from it.
Unknown2004-10-27 15:05:05
But the fact of the matter is, my thrall DOES afflict...and it's torture....have you seen what torture does? I don't care how well you are trained, that would suck....and you are still dodging the fact that there is cosmicfire *which is really shady since it is light and not fire...which makes me believe it should blind* which is at the very least going to make someone quite uncomfortable.
Bau2004-10-27 15:13:56
And stopping a sword swing mid-swing is even harder *grin* hush now, tis a discussion about archetypes, not a sulk. Amd people do cure sometimes, ya know.
Unknown2004-10-27 15:26:30
It's a discussion about Archetypes where I am discussing an archetype, am I not...I am not whining...I am saying, it does 1600+ damage in less than four seconds. That's obviously powerful and since we were discussing the most powerful archetype...I think that would fit....obviously it is me saying that I think that, as far as toe-to-toe player combat goes....warriors are powerful.

Ever heard of lasers? They are light too doncha know, and last I remember they dont necessarily blind you unless pointed at yer face, which in MUD terms would be an instakill anyway *shrug*
Unknown2004-10-27 15:33:11
You have a point there and it IS an infintisemally *spellcheck me* small mote of light so the blind thing isn't a good argument...deesregard please.

QUOTE (Guido Flagg @ Oct 26 2004, 10:15 PM)
I think the assumption that people who are good at PKing are all 'drooling retards' stems simply from the existance of a funny little place called Magnagora. The general impression i've gotten is that most people believe all of Magnagora to be a bunch of highly aggressive 12-year olds with inflated egos who come onto Lusternia to slaughter the helpless between rounds of counterstrike. Mostly this is due to the actions of a few individuals, who likely don't even mean as much harm as it may appear, if any. That's just how I think a lot of people feel; not what I myself thing of Magnagora or anyone in it.
Sadly I think you're 100% correct. Visaeris is probably the biggest example of a person that people think that is simply out to kill kill kill.. Anyone who has spoken with Visaeris privately regarding his motivations probably understands(Ethelon, most of Magnagora, a few select Serenwilders who've asked but don't agree that it's valid).
As for the race thing.. Mugwump power! *rawr*
Unknown2004-10-27 16:43:39
Muggy power! Mudslinger power! Um.. what sort of a noice does a lizard make when it's angry? Anyway, I think I said somewhere else, that if I'm level 50, and a move kills me from full hp, then when I'm level 80(as you said would be more standard) AND I can survive one of them, then two will still kill me. Even if I heal and curem since I don't heal back 50% of my hp very quickly.. only Tae'dae can recover like that. So knights are probably my most powerful archetype, as afflictions *can* be cured.. even if it requires a level of curing skill normally known as godly.

I assume by the instakill you refer to haymaker. Well, haymaker isn't the be all end all, because you can parry and dodge it. In fact, at transcendant combat using a good shield with 15 dex, I often parry/dodge entire haymakers. If you want to fight you need to have high skills, and combat is absolutely crucial against knights. I simply laugh at the thought of fighting a Knight and losing, simply because with my trans combat skill with a good shield, I'm able to dodge away and block almost everything they can throw at me. Anyone who actually does hit lands very little damage between putrefaction and my armour(which is kind of gimp) and such.

Champions don't -have- to be intelligent, in my opinion. They have to be strong enough and loud enough to proclaim and uphold the ideals of their Guild. That's the beauty of Champions; it gives those who ordinarily would have no political power a chance to shine, by doing what they're best at. Anyhoo, to date, I've seen no foolish Champions (I've only seen two to date, though, so fingers crossed), so I can't see where all this hatred is stemming from.
And out of the archtypes, probably Guardians. A good balance between offensive and defensive, and between magic and strength, is always a good thing.

It's funny, but it seems to me that the best fighters are usually well placed politically. *I hate to draw from Achaea, but it's already been done, so I will. Kaisar, high ranking member of the Druids. Dresden, of Shallam, and the Priests guild. Shakti of Ashtan, and the Occultists. Kaelin of Mhaldor, and the Mhaldorian Guild (I forgot it's name.).
Unknown2004-10-27 18:21:30
Dude, I don't even think that Shakti should be included because, despite what anyone can say about what she did, she was another breed of player man. People talk about what she did and didn't do and they say "Well, I should have beaten her here and at this" but the fact of the matter is, they didn't and she was one of the most exceptional characters I have ever known.

Hahahahahahaha, Kaelin.. *snicker* Yea, sure.
Unknown2004-10-27 19:28:48
My first Achaean character was (and still is) Mhaldorian, and back in the days of landmarking I can remember Kaelin having lots of fun hunting and destroying those who got in our way. He went dormant for a while and his role changed when he returned, but by that time I had switched to a completely new character myself. It all depends on your perspective, and as a relative newbie in the Maldaathi (before Mhaldor even), I was fairly impressed with him.
Unknown2004-10-27 19:31:44
Heh! I knew CAELAN but I don't think I met Kaelin.....not sure though.
