Like I have said before, every Archetype has their Strengths and weaknesses. Visaeris is -dead- right, you can't get too far in IRE without skills, and Combat -does- more or less make the Knight class very weak if you use it right. As for the large amount of damage, yes, they do, because thats their strength.
I fought Visaeris in a freeforall, and I'm a Tae'dae. His Cosmicfire was doing me 1400 damage per hit, and I swung my maces at him 10 times, and hit once, probably doing around 150-200 damage.
Sure Knights can do lots of damage if they hit, but if you're any good, they shouldn't.

I get to join in the fun of being a crazy, damage dealing knight now since I am an ur'Guard. The funny thing is, I am still Master Rituals and still have up to Carrion in Necromancy which is fine by me but I took a big hit in the way of overall lessons so I am struggling at the moment.....the terrible part is, I have no gold for weapons either so it's going to be rat kicking for a while for me.

Not to mention you wasted 3 guildfavours :excl:

It's bad enough that you try to tell me how pathetic it was for me to change guilds in the game but you have to bring it here too?? Yes, I got got three guildfavours and left the guild....It wasn't planned...I didn't flesh it out over time....and the positive side is, most of the Nihilists are going to have a guaranteed source for herbs now cheaper than the standard market price. It isn't like I have completely forsaken the Nihilists or the City of Magnagora either....and I realize that you are going to boast about how you have connections and you don't need herbs but the majority of the Nihilists didn't.
Besides, I am much more happy to be able to RP this situation.

*shrug* You brought up the fact that a bunch of bad things happened because you left.
Davrick2004-10-29 08:01:50
You mean.. you guys get Guildfavors?
Unknown2004-10-29 14:46:48
Bad things happened because I left? I missed that? What happened when I left? I mean, I wasn't really THAT much of an asset to the guild?

I meant bad things happened, most of them to you(you can't rat, you lost a lot of lessons, etc). And we also sort of burned a lot of guild favours. No biggy
Unknown2004-10-29 15:21:04
I couldn't rat for the first little portion of my time there....then I got the wooden clubs and went bashing like a madman and now I am all of the way up to broadswords *don't by a halberd -shudder-* My big concerns now are armor and venoms and I did lose a lot of lessons but lessons aren't everything....but I did keep all of my rituals/necromancy lessons *evil grin* That's how I am a Brood Viscanti and yeah! Sorry about the favours, as I said, it wasn't planned out.
Shiri2004-11-15 00:56:34
Well, there go most of the necromancers that might've competed for top archetype...how many of you guys think knights are getting more viable with the recentish changes, out of curiosity?

What did shakti do? never heard the name before
Shakti was... wow, incredible. Too bad she 'left' just before my character joined the Occultist guild. She was guildmistress of the Occultists, Overseer of Ashtan (I think both at the same time), won the year 300 contest for the Staff of Nicator, did a ton of other cool things... Probably the best (as in, best in all the categories) Occultist since Servelan de Vermiis. Aaand we all know where Servelan is now.
While it's true that the very best fighters are also high placed within their cities, guilds, and orders, this basically is a representation of the fact that they're just great at everything. There are a hell of a lot of fighters who are better than the rest, but who are still total morons when it comes to everything else. "omg u killed me and didn't rezz? no fair! i was watchin Titanic and didnt see." "wow, your great! what system do you use? python on mush?" etc, etc.
