I'm not sure, but is it just my computer or are triggers for JAVA client thingies really messed up? Only, I can't actually seem to have any reasonable amount of them, because it claims half of them are too long or I have too many and spazzes out and dies. And I'd really like to know why.

Stop using java.
Shiri2004-10-27 23:20:38
Bah, that's what everyone tells me. I'm attached to it now though, I'm not leaving it alone. *clings to JAVA*
Zolas2004-10-27 23:43:08
Seriously, the Java client isn't a great choice for having a bunch of triggers.
It's convenient on public machines and for some quick cavorting, but that's about it.

Not even that. Just get a flash drive and put a real client on it and carry it with you wherever you go (just in case).

What's a good -free- client to use besides java?
Indigo2004-10-28 01:55:13
That depends on your system. If OS X is your poison, then Mudwalker is a simple but effective client, assuming you don't want to use the built-in Terminal.

I like zmud 5.55 Found either at tucows for Filedudes.

heh, I've been using java since starting achaea about 1 and a half rl years ago...it takes some getting used too, but I'm a pretty good fighter that can take out most people. Java isn't nearly as bad as people seem to think.
Ixion2004-10-28 04:11:25
yea its not nearly as bad, it's worse.
It is very hard to stay on top of things in pvp without getting mass spammed as there is no way to drop useless lines

Also if you dont have OSX for mac, Rapscallion is a good OS9 one, even though its not being upgraded anymore, its still good

The only gripe I have with the Java client is the weird sizing of the pop up window, and the obliteration of the willpower bar at the bottom. But hey, that's only petty.
And if you're looking for a free client for Windows, Mudmaster 2k is pretty nice.

I still prefer ZMud....I mean, the Updates are free and its only what? $20 bucks. After they stopped giving lost registration codes, I lost mine and had to buy it again so I have bought it twice now but have no problems with that since it is so good anyway.

google "mud client"

nah,I never get too spammed in fights, unless it's a fight with someone that has an occultist-ish class. Besides,I don't even use trigs.I fight completely manual, and I still heal better than some people's systems.

I fight manual too...I use aliases though. Partially 'cause I dun like triggers, partially 'cause JAVA's horrible at them *inno* I'm a pretty bad fighter though, but I've got a good eye (which is about all I can do in a fight) so even though I get spammed I can tell what's going on.
Unknown2004-10-28 18:31:55
I really wish there was a "no triggers" FFA one day or something....I used to fight using no triggers on Java in Imperian and I was able to stand for about half a minute before I went under.
Unknown2004-10-28 23:15:52
well, if all the sudden people weren't allowed to use triggers, about 9 out of 10 fighters would end up being about as good as a novice.
Yepela2004-10-29 13:50:34
Probably, which is why it should be done just for the sheer amusement of the spectators.

Here Here!
Before I found IRE Muds, I had never seen a mud where combat triggers, PVP or PVM, were allowed.. I was stunned when I first heard players could use trigs in combat.
Thus I have never done an arena or pvp in an IRE game, never used triggers, honestly don't knwo how or where to start.
But I do agree on the idea for a no trigs arena match, or maybe some global enchantement that removed all trigs for like X months in the game... That would be interesting...
