Shouting should cost something like 30% of your total endurance. If you can't get your point across with three statements to the entire realm then shut up and step down.

Every once in awhile there is something constructive said, and it would be a shame to miss it. It isn't just the annoyance of hearing everyone that grates on me, it is the fact that these shouting matches will lead to real conflict and bad situations between the cities. Pointless ones at that.

If you don't like it, turn off shouts.

Not to be critical here, but 30% wouldn't do anything.. Theoretically 30% asymptotically approaches zero, but never actually reaches zero. As such, shouts would be not limited by endurance at all.

Shouts should cost less indurance than it does now, because it sucks when your trying to get a point across but by the time you have the endurance to do so, the conversation is over.

The countermeasure to this would be if someone was annoying you and spamming the shouts, you could block that specific person from your hearing

To be honest, shouts really aren't as bad here (yet), as other Muds. We've stil not got to the stage of:

Nope, heard one of those earlier. Really, I can understand saying bye to your guild and city, but outside of those who actually know you... are people getting to be that ego-driven already?

Actually, I don't mind the silly shouts so much, they are short, easy to read and don't affect much. I don't like the power of one person to make such large impressions on the populous. And often they don't reflect much, and since so many people have shouts off, nobody knows to respond to it, or bothers to because of how stupid shouts are.

Heh... Perhaps shouts could be given by the Divine to individuals who earn them? It seems all muds start out well, but then the slime moves in and the entire experience degrades into-

If someone is annoying you, snub them for a bit.

If the conversation is annoying you turn of shouts for 10 minutes.

If you can't remember to turn shouts back on after 10 minutes time, then hearing someone say something important isn't very important to you. If it's too much trouble to type shoutson, then set up a trigger. If that's too much work, then I'm do what I do and just ignore them.

I don't turn shouts off, but I ignore them 80% of the time.

Admins should be monitoring shouts and public public channels like market.

Sick of people making comments on Market. Having short response to competition is ok, providing it's selling and buying. Damn, I even hate people who say on market "Please keep market for buying and selling" and look, looks like they don't either.

Imperian completely removed shouts, save for Admins/Gods, and NPCs that are controlled by Admins/Gods.

The realm is better off for it.

Last time I was in Achaea they removed shouts as well, except for the horns and top-ranked people. Cause it was getting to a point where you'd think to be in a maniacal kindergarden for badly deranged individuals.

If it isn't already this way, shouts should be scaled to remove more endurance for every character you shout (i.e., the spammier you are, the more tired you will be). Make it exponential, too, so that the 50th character takes more away than the 1st character.

I get about four shouts in, and I'm at a decent level. I miss my Aetolian Dwarven endurance.

Then again, I hate shouts. Maybe we could make it level 50 and up?

Just ditch them. They only serve to annoy. Would make broadcast a bit more useful, by making one of the few ways of reaching everyone?
