Actually, I like teleport being lower. I prefer the more mobile combat atmosphere we have here...just seems better somehow. And it was endlessly frustrating having to spend 20 minutes running from Ashtan to Shallam if there was an emergency or whatever. Means people without excessive creditness aren't just being left behind.

Teleport low is nice, it gives absolutely everyone to a convenient and fairly useful instant travel skill and opens up slots in skill trees to use for other items (though as a Moondancer I still have beam and flow as well).

There is a skill similar to what you're suggesting, in Stag, which allows you to return to a totem you have bonded with. Being as most Totems are going to be around the same place anyhow, its a similar idea, however don't forget it costs 3 power to use each time (making it basically a waste of power if you have a teleport target).

If you make a skill in planar to set up a variable return point, you basically take out like 2 of the 7 stag skills, considering it uses Bond and Return as seperate skills.

It should definately take power, though. Part of the goodness of being able to teleport to specific people is the inherent unreliability.

I like the idea of NexusHome, but at least make it have a bit of a casting time. If you make the casting time uninterruptable, it could work well. If you're being assaulted, the attackers get a last chance to take you down and you get a last chance to escape. It balances out well, and further encourages people to be a part of a city/commune.

Those who can do triggers could readily enough do all this without Divine help. Gag the question and answer, answer automatically if you're in the right place, and if you've just asked, flow to the one who answers (if the name is on your trusted list) automatically. Anyone could do this sort of thing (using flow, teleport, or what-have-you) if they wanted to, as long as they could agree on semi-standard question and answer format.

This over CT or similar? Unfortunately that'd just add to the spam for those who haven't set up a gag trigger.

Maybe a dedicated clan/channel for such but then you're getting expensive for such a trivial set up.

I was actually thinking about that earlier but gave it up as too ooc... and my version went something like, whenever someone enters the right places, they announce it, when they leave, they announce that they've left. Everyone sets up a pair of triggers to keep a running list of who's there. Then you also have an alias flowmother, etc., that flows to any of the people on your mother list.

If there would be the same thirdeye-ability as in achaea or imperian then you'd be able to reduce the ct-spam a lot too. You'd just look at who, highlight those who are at the Nexus and quickly move to one of them. But this nexushome idea is nice. Not a means to escape, just something for convenience. And stag-totemreturn would be still useful as it is fast.

From: Estarra, the Eternal
To : Everyone
Subj: Nexus Teleportation

From an idea on the forums!

If you have the planar skill of teleport, you may now teleport to your
nexus. See the AB file for further explanation.

Penned by my hand on the 20th of Roarkian, in the year 101 CE.

Best I can do, I'm afraid
Olan2004-11-01 21:29:39
Three cheers for Estarra!
Unknown2004-11-01 23:04:02
I feel vindicated. *Does little dance*. Now...to force everyone to learn the skill.

Syntax: TELEPORT
TELEPORT NEXUS
You can teleport to a target if he or she is on the same plane. You may only teleport to targets on different continents if you have the PlanarSight ability. If you are a member of a city or commune, you may also teleport directly to your nexus, though this takes a considerable more amount of time. Teleporting to your nexus only works on the prime plane on the same continent as the nexus.

Nature skill of Forest who or FWHO to see who is in the forests.

Now all that needs to happen to actually reduce the flood on Serenwilde is to make it work for flow. See, everyone and their brother has flow, rather than teleport, so it's barely helped them at all tongue.gif Oh well, there we go.

That, and flow is instant, while teleporting to your nexus takes a LONG time.
