simple question, does anyone think there will be more cities added down the road? it just seems to me that 3 cities and 9 guilds isprety small. Its good for an open beta, but are there any plans in the works to enlarge the scale of diplomacy to more cities?

I'd be very surprised if there WASN'T going to be expansion. Especially since having two historically-developed cities floating in time yet inaccessible to the playerbase simply screams "won't this be interesting?"

All previous IRE games have gained cities and guilds as time went on. This will undoubtedly be the case in Lusternia as well.

I have a feeling that Hallifax and Gaudiguch will be returning. I find it to be too much of a coincidence that you can get almost right up to Gaudiguch in the desert, but then the path there just stops at a room with only one exit back the way you came. It leaves a lot open for addition!

Don't forget the Ackleberry.

Especially since those cities are "frozen in time" not "smashed all to heck." And if you look, most files refer to "communes," as in the plural, which to me implies that the gods very much intend to make it possible for more communes to exist later. I expect it will largely depend on population, demand, etc...
Also, it will probably be a good while before anything is added. They have to finish balancing the cities and guilds and ironing out the bugs before they even THINK about adding anything new, and I'm sure that's their focus right now (ironing things out, that is).

Glomdoring already has a tower set up for the various trade skills it looks like.. It was pretty neat in there.

personally Id like to see a dark forest before another city (hopefully -not- full of idiots but that seems to be hoping against reality *hum*)
Unknown2004-10-29 08:24:22
Just as Serenwilde starts to get comfy, watching Celest and Magnagora hit each other to death, the Gods will drop Glomdoring on us to ruin the fun.

I've got to say I love how they've set up Lusternia for expansion. It will be far more exciting to see Gaudiguch rescued from Time (I really wanna be a pyromancer ^^) than some random city just tacked on with a background that appears out of no where.
Unknown2004-10-29 15:08:34
Imperian hasn't added a city yet unless I am mistaken? Guilds though they have added.
Pyromancers and Aeromancers would be sweet but the problem is going to be that people are going to flock to those guilds leaving a drop in numbers for everyone else.....but can you imagine the Warrior/Guardian class for those two?

Yeah, I wonder how it's going to work in terms of outer planes, though? Fire and air planes, obviously, for the Ignimancers and Auramancers respectively, but what about cosmic versions? I guess you could go with law and chaos if you wanted to be really D&Dish, but it seems rather odd to ascribe law to either fire or air. Would've worked better with earth, but they kinda tacked Nil onto that, so that's sort of out of the question.
Unknown2004-10-29 15:13:35
There is a Planar Diagram somewhere that shows you how each plane ascends through each level and so on and it includes Hallifax and Gaudiguch.
Roark2004-10-29 15:17:34
Don't the histories describe other guilds in these cities besides the geomancers and aeromancers...? ;)

It goes like this..
Magnagora->Ethereal->Earth->Nil->Astral(Capricorn)
Celest->Ethereal->Water->Celestia->Astral(Cancer)
Hallifax->Ethereal->Air->Continuum->Astral(Gemini)
Gaudiguch->Ethereal->Fire->Vortex->Astral(Sagittarius)

The do describe them, I was merely alluding to the fact their skill combinations are going to be interesting and most likely fun....
*goes back to trying to make Gaudiguch and Hallifax come back despite knowing that they won't yet*

It may be... quite some time before we see another city.

What about a Glomdoring commune? Likewise "quite some time"?
Unknown2004-10-29 15:46:29
I got that assumption when I was going nuts trying to do it all and get the two cities back....*sigh* Ah! Well, guess I'll go back to dreaming.
