As long as it stays out of game it's fine to talk about Achaea but it is getting a little nauseous to me as well.

No one who relies heavily in Achaea on artifacts is really all that good, anyways. All this talk about Achaea makes me want to know who's who.. I have such horrible RP on the subject.Â
Well, since I'm a member at the Achaea.cjb.net forum, I happen to know that they all say, just about anyway to get anywhere in fighting would be to buy artifacts.. so I don't know.

Heh, what Rafael says, is incorrect.
People like Das, for instance, are basically unbeatable due to being a dragon, and having so much artifact blingbling he drowns when he gets in water.
Me, I have tonnes of artis in Achaea, still cant fight, only started to do well when I changed my purely RP race, to one that will help me fight.
Sometimes artis help, sometimes they dont. There are a _couple_ of fighters out there who can hold their own, and dont have any artis at all. A couple.

Yea, Das is an exception. But, we always have Cain, Tiamat, and some others to remind us artifacts won't always do you any good!

How fitting.
Artifacts do Cain and Tiamat plenty of good. Think of how much more they would die without them. Can you imagine Cain without his wings? A snake with 5k health is insane in the first place, which is how he manages to stay alive so much.
Artifacts can make a fighter out of anyone - when you have money, you really don't need skill.

How fitting that a goon is one of the most powerful fighters.
Probably the most hated too, come to think of it. Heh.

I've only got a few artifacts in Achaea, and only one of them is really for fighting: my bow. I bought the bow because 6k for a new bow every month was annoying and it would always decay just before someone raided.
When you have a good healing system, you don't always need skill. Still, I've had my skills save me long enough to flee and def up, without even having my system turned on! I'm a firm believer in skills over artifacts and I love getting all those really cool commands and figuring out a good strategy to utilize them all.
Arti wings should be banned permanently, or else nerfed to the point where they're only utilitarian and not usable to flee from raids 10 times an hour.

Sad experience has taught me to believe, however pessimistically, that there can only be one result when a choice is being made between balance and the kaching factor.
Unknown2004-11-01 17:05:14
On the point of wings, I like how Imperian made it so that it takes balance and you have to fly....it made fleeing a LOT more difficult.
Unknown2004-11-02 15:02:00
Agreed, the Imperian system of wings was better. You had to fly, wait for balance recovery, then say the magic word. In the mean time, they could tentacle, dervish, whirlwind, whatever you done (Or prevent you from flying in the first place, Idrasi clinging comes to mind). I fear the Cubix will become the fleeing instrument of choice.. it should have a delay, just like teleporting to your nexus, or touching a painting. It's use should be utilitarian, not for the purpose of escape.
