One problem would be that we couldnt have gun powder or cannons... that would complicate things... Maybe a group of mages on a ship can team together to cast spells at lon distance then when the ships get nearer tarots and runes are used then when it comes to close combat thats where the paladins come in..
Of course some more long range skills would be good too when it comes to ships

For this to realistically work I would suggest adding a entire guild for all 3 citys/commune and baseing their skills heavily around this. It WOULD be complicated, about as complicated as any guild is when you think about it however the only problem I see with gunpowder is how you could RP having gunpowder as i'm yet to find any form of explosion in existance outside of magical means. Have..we even discovered gunpowder in Lusternia? I do not think so...

but the idea entices me greatly and i'd love to see some naval combat and such, its one of the major aspects IRE has always been missing in my opinion. You can fight them in the air..you can fight them on the beaches and in the mountains...but you can't fight them in the sea? sad.gif
