I know a lot of great places to find pics of different races, if any of you are having trouble, just reply on this thread. You can either post your desc or tell me what you want to look like. If you have no idea, just tell me the race, guild and other info like that, and I'll find you a great pic.

Nobody seems to like drawing crystal people!

I like this site alot, has most of all the best fantasy artists on one page.. now copyright and such I don't know about, but I assume if you use the picture for a non-profit thing (like a forum avatar or character picture) as long as you give due credit you should be okay.

Sorry, Fain, that's not how it works. You either get permission from the creator, or you do not use the image. The only exception is fair use, and a forum avatar does not count as that.
You might be able to get away with it for awhile, but that doesn't make it legal or right.

True, but using such copywrited images from games like Warcraft 3 and tv shows like South Park isn't any less legal...

I really have no idea where to begin looking for a crystalline woman. (Looks like Lusternia is sailing in unchartered territory) I did, however find two pictures that could work for a lucidian or Merian.

True, you have to sift through the site for hours to find anything really good, but there are some awesome things there just waiting to be found. And I think many of the people there wouldn't really care if you used their artwork for an avatar as long as you ask them if it is alright. Most people there aren't all snobby about it... which is why they put their stuff on elfwood.com, which isn't as... 'prestigious' as other online art galleries.

Most artists have no problem with it if you ask. It's the ones who repeatedly get their work used without permission (poor Boris Valejo) who stop giving out that permission.

EDIT: Also, they're forum avatars. Don't take them too seriously, guys. If someone non-famous drew them, I'd be sure to ask out of general respect. But if you don't, I seriously doubt they'd sue you through the roof. I'm not exactly going to ASK the creators of South Park. It's advertising for them, anyway.

edit: Stupid enter key. I ment to say is, my character is a raven based trill, and im having a hard time finding either or of the two selections. hero machine works for the angel-like, but i dont know how to save it and edit it properly.
