*ponder* What's your problem with transsexuals, Amaru? Seems an odd thing to want to be, but to each his own, right? Doesn't affect you...
Amaru2005-03-08 21:12:11
Well I'll try to avoid using religion, and just say it's instinctive. Man is man, woman is woman to me. You are what you're born as. Which means that Nadia from BB is just an ugly ass man with his cut off and some flab from his thighs cut into the shape of breasts sewn onto his chest.

Oh how I wish that statement was true.
There is nothing in this world that you come in contact with that does not affect you.
Shiri2005-03-08 23:29:27
...doesn't affect you IN ANY MEANINGFUL WAY. I know that like, the colour of that guy's room is affecting my mood in some tiny little way but it doesn't REALLY matter.
Daganev2005-03-08 23:36:53
Do I really need to list all the events in history that started with "Oh its just a small thing, its not going to affect anything important"
If everything is reletive, nothing matters, everything is just a construction of "the person" ( ) and communism is the proven best way of life, then sure it makes no difference, however, none of those are true.
I think what you mean is, "Don't rag on the transvestites, you should treat them like any other human being" That is a far cry from "Its just another flavour of icecream, what does it matter to you?"

Sounds very similar to me, the last bit. Anyway, whatever.
Daganev2005-03-08 23:59:48
There is a large difference.
For example, when I was younger I had friends my parents did not want me to hang out with. When they were over, my parents were friendly and nice to them, and let them raid our fridge as much as they wanted. But my parents would not let me go to things with them unless other more reputable people were around also.
You can be civil and a human being to other human beings but still not be with them or support thier activities.
The only reason your roomate's room color doesn't really matter is becasue your roomate is not in control and making everybody's room color the same, and you don't spend enough time around it for it to matter. But if you were forced to stay in his room when you did not want to that color would start to affect you in ways that matter.
People need to have the right to call things they don't like disgusting. Especially Neon Pink and Puke Green rooms

Hmm. I suppose that's true.
In any case, I meant to edit my post, but IE died and I had to reset.
I was going to add, "I was essentially saying the former, but I (for once) didn't feel like being confrontational, so I took the latter approach."

heh, and you ended up being confrentational anyways
Shiri2005-03-09 00:45:26
Yeah, I know, I suck like that.

Wha? No. I prefer them in jeans, and not the tight kind either
Daganev2005-03-09 10:50:17
Do not deny that you love mel brooks.
Summer2005-03-09 10:54:57
Who's that?
Daganev2005-03-09 12:27:22
The creator and director of "Men in tights" the robin hood spoof.
Summer2005-03-09 12:39:29

Men are men and women are women, yes, and when hormonal imbalances in the womb stop the foetus from developing into the sex it's meant to be, that baby is born with what boils down to a serious birth defect that means they're stuck in the body of the wrong sex. They don't just decide one day that they want to be the opposite sex, they eventually come to the realisation that their body and mind don't match (I think the only reason why it takes some people until adulthood to admit this is because of the stigma associated with it. If we stopped judging things at face value this sort of thing could be rectified much earlier on). And believe me, conservative psychologists and doctors have tried and tried to change peoples minds to match their bodies, but it doesn't work.
Anyway, this is pretty much irrelevant to the topic of my signature, because as far as I know Mana is a guy mentally as well as physically. He just likes women's clothes . You wouldn't object if it was a girl wearing pants, or even a tailcoat and tophat or something considered equally as masculine (I don't mind Judaism's laws against men wearing women's clothing because at least they apply equally to women, before you get started, Daganev ), so why get so worked up over a little bit of cloth?

It's called extreme traditionalism. You know, the type of people who 40-50 years ago were yelling that the Beatles and (heterosexual) pairs kissing each other in public are extremely vulgar and will result in the fall of morality, and the whole world eventually.
However, discussion of beliefs is not meant for this subforum, and especially not for this thread. This thread is for the discussion of (you all believe it or not) avatars. And as far as avatars go, Guido's is my favourite.

It sounds like you got all that from one magazine article.
And if that is the case, why glorify it? Putting men who have 'turned themselves' into women in a special category, dressing them in lingerie and using them as a sex symbol is surely degrading them, and your point, utterly.
The man in your display picture you still refer to as a man. You've just contradicted yourself. Are you sure you aren't adding to the very stigma you say you despise so much?
Akraasiel2005-03-10 16:36:22
I say screw morality and biology. If someone doesnt like having a wang, let them go get it changed to something else. I'm of the philosophical school that all physical appearances are purely cosmetic. It isnt boobs that make a woman, nor is it the lack thereof that makes a man... hell I dont even believe that there are men and women, just a bunch of people wandering around with random gene sets that shafted them with whatever equipment they have at the time.
If ya wanna change it, go ahead. It's like I would view a facelift, or a tummytuck, or getting a tattoo. It's all purely cosmetic. Sadly I know a wee bit about the formative processes of the brain and can say safely, that on a biological level, the only major difference between men and women are hormonal levels in the brain, but those are controlled by another system seperately. Change your hormonal balance, change your mental "gender". Humankind is incredibly malleable, only self imposed "moral" and "ethical" mores prevent the total breakdown of social casting via cosmetic and functional manipulation of the individual human system.
By the way, the man in question claims to be a "man" who just likes women's clothing, though what "man" as a term serves as, I would not be able to tell you due to the massive range of currently accepted behavior patterns in modern society. Hell, as long as you arent wearing a skirt to go along with your cahones, you can act like a woman as much as you want and get along just fine. I care nothing for degredation, nor any other construct of its like. Dont like the way life is? Either change it, or quit. I recommend jumping off a very tall building, usually the terror will stop your heart before the squishy sound you make when you hit the ground kills you.
