First off, this post isn't intended to whine, it's so that I can make some observations.
Before I had chosen to leave serenwilde, I was linking, like a normal day. And, like some of those, I spaced out, taking enough to get my reserves from 60-80%. I reported it. I had to leave the game, but what I came back, I reported it to the minister of power. Now, I happened to do some RP, which Isune was wonderful for helping out, and after I went all freaky-like (see public post soon), I left the commune. I RPed it, and all was to be well.
I got back today, enemied to serenwilde and the serenguard, and people kept trying to teleport to me. No defences, and no idea that I was enemied. Not cool.
You see, everyone thinks I did what our mate Guido did: took a lot of power and ran. I drew not ten seconds before leaving, but an hour or two. I didn't fill my reserves. Visaeris even told me to not fill them.
Former friends are now hunting me, and I can see just how good it was that I left the commune. People took a misunderstanding, and couldn't pull thier heads out of thier collective rears, and hunt me now because of it.
And what, am I going to say, I was afk for a sec? I kept dozing off? I spaced out? It was late at night, and after eight long hours of work... ugh.
I can't influence you all here to do what I want, but I do wish that your characters will be openminded and not bloodthirsty. Remember, I reported it, offered to pay a fine, and offered to help regain power.
Really people.
On a side note, or, revisiting it, I had some fun roleplay going on! If anyone has read the Carthan Family History on the msn site, well, this is what it's becoming.
Remember, it's a game, have some fun.

Aye, Richter.
As you drew your power before even deciding to leave, as far as I can tell, you deserve that kind of treatment even less than I, or anyone else.
But even so, what is 60-80% reserves? Around 120-150 power, that's what. The Mother makes nearly twenty times that in a single month, even with the Wilde's single village. Taking all the power at once it no worse than taking a little bit per day until you are full, unless you are actually spending it in large chunks.
And yes, I did leave soon after taking it. Richter left fairly soon as well, it appears, and that is what seems to be really stinging the Wilders; we took it, then we left, whether 5 minutes or 5 hours later. Now, I don't know whether Richter was killed or not, I hope not, but it costs 100 power to immolate someone. I suspect that means you can value one person's life at 100 power.
I drained 150 power. Serenwilde killed me enough to be worth five-hundred power. Consider your debt paid; and consider Richter's paid as well. I paid it for him, we'll say.

As much as I sympathise with this guys, let's try and keep it in one thread.. Feel free to post one in the Idiots! section and keep it all in there.

I make sure I watch how much power I'm taking out.
I don't really see how you can 'mistakenly' take 60% reserves... I've never even gone above 5% reserves... and you'd be surprised how much 200 or so power can be, especially if every single member of the commune were to use that much power daily and not refill it back. And what would happen if you lost both of your villages the next day, and people didn't stop taking power?
That's why it is best to just be used to only taking what you need, instead of stocking up for whatever purposes.
But hey, that's just me, I don't know how you do it over there in the forest

I was seriously amazed that no one stopped me. There were people standing at the Mother for the whole time I was linked, and others for a good period of the time.
Someone (I think Hayden) noticed and brought it up once I was at around 98%, and I was powerblocked seconds before leaving the Commune. I sent a rather urgent notice to Visaeris.
"Er, I think they noticed. Finally. Maybe I should leave now."
Eh heh, i'm a sneeaaaky 9-foot tall bear.

And I'm sure that's why they've killed you over and over now

Aye, he just explained why he had been killed numerous times. Stealing power with the intention in mind, no accident, no report after, breaking rules he knew existed, send him to jail and lock away the key.
Unknown2004-11-03 22:34:53
Sending someone to jail and giving them five death sentences are two different things.
Unknown2004-11-03 22:35:39
People get multiple life sentences, we could've locked you in a 10 foot box though instead.
Unknown2004-11-03 22:40:39
I didn't mean a 'life sentence', I meant, literally, being sentenced to death. As in, execution.

No, see, you can't.
This is where you're mixing in IC stuff with OOC stuff. There are several creative ways of punishing people in the real world, but in Lusternia, basically what you can do is fine a person and kill him over and over again until it feels like you're done. But unfortunately that's punishing the player more than anything, and that's not what we should be doing.
Am I the only one who feels we should take OOC considerations into how we play our characters? There are things I'm sure Akhenaten could do to other people that I would never have him do, because that's being an asshole to the player, remember it's just a game, and we're all playing it.

SO oh he stole 1 million gold from our city coffers but lets not kill him more than once and fine him too much.

I don't think anyone's saying it's a bad thing to kill him a few times.. But 160 power is not equivalent to 1 million gold. I'm just tired of him getting slaughtered endlessly.
Unknown2004-11-04 00:12:21
He's still being touched? Thought it ended a couple days agounless he steps into the forest. I hope it has.
Richter2004-11-04 00:40:03
At least everyone seems to have forgotten that everyone thought I stole power too. Of course, I didn't. So, now we can unenemy me from my former commune and guild, eh?
