The Dark Crystal rocks *sagenod*
Labyrinth is greater than The Dark Crystal.
You remind me of the babe
What babe
The babe with the power
What power
The power of voodoo
Who do?
You do
Do what
Remind me of the babe

Boondock Saints, of course. Who can't like it?
Watched Donnie Darko today. I was amazed. Watch it.
I'm surprised noone mentioned The Usual Suspects, especially you guys who liked Boondock Saints.
Then we have Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, wonderful movie.
Kill Bill 1+2
Pulp Fiction
Shrek
A nightmare before Christmas
Saving Private Ryan
Pirates of the Caribbean, though I hated Orlando Bloom in it. Johnny Depp and the soundtrack makes it a great movie, though.
Although I slept in front of a local cinema for three days to get tickets for the first show of each of the LOTR movies, I'm not that much of a fan. In my opinion, Peter Jackson started messing things up after FotR. However, all three are still masterpieces considering things like the costumes, soundtrack, and special effects, so I guess I'll have to list them as well.

Movies!
Boondock Saints
Insomnia
Ghostbusters
Hold That Ghost (Abbott and Costello, for those who don't know)
The Last Samurai
Blade Runner
Eh, that's enough of a list I think.
As to anime...I do love it. I just dislike Miyazaki's newer work! So no Princess Mononoke for me. Although...he's working on an animated movie version of Diana Wynne Jones' Castle in the Sky, which I love. I'll have to see that.

I love Abbott and Costello too.........we have a box set of some of their movies and it's hilarious....

Nightmare before Christmas...hehheee. I love anything related to Halloween, and Tim Burton was a genius with this move.
Labyrinth - So, yeah, it was a B-ish kind of film, and the heroine wasn't that great of an actress in my opinion, but the work on the puppets was lovely.
The Princess Bride!!!! Whoever doesn't love the Princess Bride needs a slap.
Plus, I admit it - I'm a sucker for old fashioned Disney movies. 101 Dalmations, lady and the Tramp, Sleeping Beauty...I did want to be an animator for a great deal of time before I figured out I prefer drawing just for me.

I LOVE The Evil Dead series, they are so classic.
I also love Harry Potter because..I'm a fangirl.
Zhaine, you rock. The Labyrinth, an old 80's movie with David Bowie is one of my all time FAVORITE movies. It's funny because I listed this before I read everyone's responses. The quality of acting, and the film itself, is irrelevant. David Bowie singing about babies in spandex and puppets throwing heads around is priceless. The Princess Bride is great too, I just watched it again for the first time in several years a few months ago.
Meet the Parents..one of the funniest movies ever
My Neighbor Totoro...my first anime ever when I was about 5. Also, The Little Mermaid is my favorite Disney movie of all time.
I really liked Hero also. I love artistic movies, like 28 Days Later. It also helped that I was seeing it with someone I was obsessed with

On the note of Fangirl............this is what is interesting/disturbing in some ways. So, here I am on Shangrila.....people are wanting to RP out sexual fantasies on Harry Potter......I just never sat there and read Harry Potter and said to myself *I never really read Harry Potter books and felt the need to be alone with my hand* Interesting..........now if you are talking about the Sleeping Beauty books by Anne Rice.....well, that was meant for that but Harry Potter? Maybe it's the thought of power?

Speaking of labyrinth I have this really cool book I found a few weeks ago and bought. Its basically an individual history of all the goblins in the labryinth, don't know if anyone else has seen it. When I get home will post the name etc.

I love "Bridget Jones Diary". I can watch that over and over, and still laugh at everything I laughed at before. I can't wait to see the new movie coming out!
I also like "Finding Nemo", the seaturtles crack me up.

Only Thalacus and I for Donnie Darko? That's just wrong. Everyone should see this movie.. Though you wouldn't want to do it while high.. the Bunny guy might freak you out.

I'm all for Donnie Darko!
Anarias2004-11-13 00:36:40
I'll throw my cheers for Donnie Darko in as well. I just watched it two days ago and I was quite impressed. ...stupid rabbit...

Frank was a dude.
I almost forgot a couple of other vintage movies. The Beastmaster (Only the first one), Ladyhawke, Krull and most of those 80's swords and sorcery movies. Dodgey? Yes. Cheesey? Absolutely. Spiffy? Of course.
Ah, isn't it grand to be a child of the 80's?

How could I have forgotten Donnie Darko. That movie is insane, every time I think I understand it I lose my train of thought and get completely lost again. Garden State was good as well, and the soundtrack is awesome.
And I also want to mention that I'm the biggest sucker for war movies, especially Gladiator. I always end up crying really hard.
And I'm a fangirl for Harry Potter because...I just am. Although the boys have all grown up in the latest movie and aren't so bad. I think the actor who plays Draco is my age too.

I loved Roger Eberts comments after the director's cut came out (paraphrased)
"After watching the director's cut, I'm no less confused then I was after the original. But this is a good movie. I think."
And I can't believe this thread has lasted this long with NO mention of The Big Lebowski. Seriously, people.

Heh, all of my friends hate me because I haven't seen any classic movies. I've never seen Office Space, The Big Lebowski, Dirty Dancing, The Goonies, etc. You get the picture.

I found The Big Lebowski quite boring, it wasn't all that funny as all my friends had told me. I'd rather have seen some long movie like, Gangs of New York, then see The Big Lebowski again.
