Is it possible to wear a coat along with a great robe? Or, is it possible to have a great robe given fire protection after it has already been made?

You are wearing:
a silk backpack, a dark blue coat, a tawdry boxers, a thick cloak of forestal
hues, a taurian helm, a black spidersilk robe.
And Great Robes can have two proofs. They can't be removed unless robes mended.

He is wearing a chainmail coif, a pair of chainmail leggings, a
rope-like bracelet of silver, a heavy, black woolen cloak, a pair of black
shoes, a jeweled wedding band etched with merbloom, an aquatic ring, a dark
leather necklace with a crescent moon pendant, a turquoise charm bracelet, and
a long dark coat.

It's not worth proofing your greatrobes or buying a protection cloak right now though as they are currently bugged and offers no protection at all.

Also the proof on them can be removed by disenchanting them. You will remove the elemental proofs, but not the physical protections.
