I've been trying to come up with a description for myself (a Mugwump) for a while now and I can't figure anything out because I don't know how they're supposed to look. All the help file says is:

QUOTE
Descended from the Elder God Mugowumpois, this amphibian race originally
favored the swamps and marshlands. However, given their great intellect,
it was only natural that they gravitated to civilized areas in the
pursuit of the more scholarly professions. The facial features of the
mugwumps favor their amphibian heritage, giving them a frog-like or
salamander-like appearance. However, with the interbreeding of humans,
some mugwumps have a surprisingly human-like appearance.

Which isn't very helpful. What do their bodies look like? Do they have webbing? What color is their skin? What texture is their skn? Anyone know?

I tend to invision Mugwumps as sort of like Gollum from Lord of the Rings. I think the eyes would be more orb shaped and be mostly or completely black....though white may work if you were an underground mugwump?

They look exactly like Toad from Wind in the Willows.

Heheh! Wasn't toad just like a bipedal frog?

This is my description:

He is a glistening mugwump and blacked, resembling nothing so much as cold ash. His eyes are set into his dark, scaley face, and glow with a faint red luminescence, giving him the look of something from a nightmare. He has leathery, bat-like wings springing from his shoulder blades, and his skin is coated in scales- you noticed dark scales, and another, heavier type of scale periodically thrown in with the rest, an odd thing. His tail swishes behind him, and suddenly, you realize that he is oddly smaller than would seem normal.

Please note: I have wings from nihilism, and demonscales from nihilism, and dragonscales from rituals. And diminish from cosmic.

I imagine them as hugeass salamanders, in general.. well, maybe not exactly. I imagine a long neck, snacklike head/neck, as in, they're close to the same size, and a thick, corded tail, that's to some degree and extension of the body, and spindly arms and legs..

In other words, butt-ugly! tongue.gif

He is a glistening mugwump and is of above-average stature, standing approximately 6 feet tall. His frame is that of a young human male, his posture sturdy and without the faintest hint of a slouch. Sparkling pearl-coloured skin accentuates a pair of beautiful sea blue eyes, brilliant orbs peeking from a noble visage. A long, slightly hooked nose compliments high-set cheeks to contribute to his regal appearance. Slender limbs ripple with well-toned muscle, fit and strong without the bulk of a champion bodybuilder. He is wearing a gold bracelet with rubies, an elegant ring set with a black opal, a pair of chainmail leggings, a bracelet of woven gold and silver, a simple gold ring, a purple coat, a silver necklace with an onyx stone, a simple gold ring, a simple gold ring, a simple gold ring, and a platinum crown of thorns.

I think of them just like grooks from Aetolia/Achaea. Small, squat, green, flat heads, eyes which are raised slightly out of the head.

Think of Cid from FF9 when he's a frog, and enlarge it to half the size of an average human.

I imagine them to look something like Slippy, everyone's least favorite character from Star Fox.

No, nooooo! Mugwumps are now forever tarnished... sad.gif

But yeah, that's how I saw them. Only never -that- bad. My character played up the salamanderish aspect of them, though, rather than the froggy one (see my cool avatar?).

Just like most races who should look ass-ugly, in Mugwumps case people tend to develop a scale of 'humanity', with bipedal frogs/salamanders on one end of the scale and green-skinned humans on the other. The former is usually taken by hardcore RPers or people who, let's not be afraid to use this word, want to play a freak. The latter - by people who actually want to have some relatives (maybe even a fiancee) or just play the race for stats, but roleplay it like a normal human.

By the way...
